I've been waiting long enough for this car. Maybe in a few years, when this one's paid off(and the price gouging wears off), we'll think about trading up. As it is, I don't know how I'm gonna make it to July for my baby to get here.

Being that there is no guarantee the MPS will ever even be made, I'm not going to wait for it. 250 horses is fine for me, it will handle quite well and not kill me on insurance as the MPS would.
Perhaps in a few years where I'm making more money I'd consider the MPS, however NOT if it looks like the concept they had at Tokyo. That thing looks like a ricer's dream car and I couldn't buy it even if it was the same price as the RX-8.
Elegant and sporty is how I describe the RX-8 now, the MPS is just rice :\... besides with no specs released on it, no due date, I could be waiting another 3 or 4 years.. by which time my lease would already be up and I could get it anyway.

I have been unable to vote in this or several other polls in this forum for the last 3 or 4 days. A message comes up that says my session appears to be invalid. I have logged out and back on. But nothing seems to help.
Anyone else having poll problems?
And at this point, no way am I willing to wait for the MPS. I think the RX-8 has everything I need right now... well I did want the rear fog light and I guess I'm not getting that. And then there was the issue of the 6-disc CD and I can only get that if I pay the dealer extra money. I already asked about a retractable front license plate holder and for some reason that isn't avaialble. So guess I just have to settle for the bare bones RX-8 and hope it gets here befrore the summer is over!
I acutally DO NOT want the car right now. The snow outside is almost two feet and still coming down fast and furious!! Need to make plans for being somewhere else next winter... road trip!:D

Were you ever like this about your kids (or will you be like this when you have kids)?
"Kids?" What are "Kids?"
The only other times I've been this excited was when I was in 5th grade and got a pony AND a puppy for Christmas, and three years ago when my husband asked me to marry him (awwww... sweet, isn't it). I am pretty fanatical about my cats though...
J/k. But part of the excuse I'm using on my mom and the in-laws, who keep harassing us because they have no grandkids, is that this is my "kidcar"- it has four seats, right? I could put a baby in the backseat eventually. So in effect I'm killing two birds with one stone.

Well part of my wait remains in that I'm buying a house and financing is not something I want to do for a car. With the remarks about a 280 hp version possibly coming next winter I'm waiting till then. At that time I won't have to finance a vehicle.

I need a new car by September so I couldn't wait if I wanted to. However I agree with Herc in that I prefer the sporty looks of the regular RX-8 to the MPS showcar - too 'ricey' for someone of my advanced years to be driving perhaps.
But as for comparing the excitement of the RX-8 arrival with the arrival of a baby - no contest, I have been thinking of our (first) baby due in May non-stop since Christmas and have already spent $4k on things for her and her new room.

By the end of my lease, I'll hopefully be in a better financial position and also a more educated point of view in driving a more powerful RWD car.
To tribal azn, I won't even dignify you with a response. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and you've stated yours clearly. Thanks.

I can't see it being worth the bandwidth to hear the opinions of punks who's daddys are buying them an RX-8 because they are tired of the 30k+ cars they already have. I'm getting tired of wasting my time reading the 2 cents of the rude and semi-literate. The "wiv"s "dis"s and "dat"s are driving me "nuhtz".

HEY HERC!!!
Mazda IS making a high powered version of the RX-8, due to be released 1 year aftert the standard. This will get 200 kW which means that it's gonna be bigger or its gonna rev harder. Maybe you should confirm your facts before you have a go at people

Mazda is supposed to launch the RX-8 and another vehicle this year. I don't think the Mazdaspeed RX-8 will be out for at least a year or two though. Anyone know what the "other" vehicle is?
"Mazda North American Operations will boost its 2003 advertising budget as part of a strategy to push sales 10 percent over 2002 numbers.
CEO Charlie Hughes says most of the ad budget is going toward three product launches - the Mazda6, which replaces the 626 and Millenia; the RX-8 sports car, due this summer as a 2004 model; and a third new vehicle, which he declined to identify.
Hughes says he no longer wants to be a follower. So the company is returning to its roots as a marketer of performance, fun-to-drive, stylish vehicles."
