Want your opinion
I was driving back from lunch, today when I saw a black RX-7 in a driveway with a for sale sign. I went to look at it, and it had a sheet with all the equipment and list of mods, apparently it's a '94 twin turbo RX-7 with 103,423 miles on it, and the owner is asking 18,860... I'm gonna try and go back when the owner is home so I can actually look at everything thoroughly. Just wanted to know if you guys think its worth it..... When I get my digital camera i'm gonna take pics and post them up....

I would ask when the ball joints were replaced (usually every 50k).
If the motor has been rebuilt, by who, and what was done to it.
Ask for receipts.
I personally think the $18 is way too high for the car.

Personally I think the price is high for the miles unless the motor is a fairly fresh rebuild. Then again it has been about 5-6 years since I sold my FD so I have not really priced them recently.

18K would be fair if it were a R2 with a fresh rebuild from a reliable rotary mechanic with a perfect tune, reliability mods and perfect paint with flawless interior. If it is 103K mi w/a 30-40k rebuild by some random shop and average paint and interior, prlly more like 15k-16K. If it still has the original motor, then I wouldnt even think twice unless you want to put some $ into it.
I paid 18K for my FD 4 years ago,it is a 93 R1 w/84K mi and it had a fresh rebuild (only 10k mi) from pettit, street ported, w/ 3mm apex seals and decent paint with a ton of reliability mods. When I bought it, it wasn't exactly like this but this is what a FD for 18K may look like.

thank you guys, I just want another car I can drive thats reliable without over working my 8. I left a message in his mailbox with my name and number, cause he didn't put his phone number anywhere on the car. I thought it was a little pricey as well, but hopefully he will be willing to bargain with me. Kind of excited to own a twin turbo 7. thanks again guys
thanks r1rx7girl.... It sort of looked like that, but not exactly

I'll assume you posted this on the RX7 forums as well. Hopefully their response is better. =)
I say go for it. RX7 FTW.
Find out if the engine has been rebuilt because those engines are known to have some major issues at around 80-100K. Check the suspension and the tranny to see if there is any slack, and make sure the vacuum hoses are still playable, sine the turbo system on those models is very finicky in regards to the hose system. Brittle hoses = mucho dinero to get good boost.
Good luck. I've always wanted a 7, but have never found one reliable enough to drive every day.

Ok guys he returned my call!! I went to his house, he said that the tranny and the motor was rebuilt... He doesn't exactly know where or when because the car was given to him by his dad. I started it up, sounded nice when I revved it, but he has no knowledge of who did the engine rebuild or what has happened to the car. Also the lowest he can go price was was 17,500... so i dont think this is the car for me.
