Warm restart - doesn't want to

I HATE SPEEDBUMPS!
Don't give too many details...Just say your engine is having issues and won't start 30%, 40%, 50% of the time...Choose your own number...lol...Luckily I was speaking to somebody who was nice and extremely honest...He said if you are having engine problems, the warranty has to cover the compression test.
True, but if you pass, then it's on you.

Wow.. what a way to smash the nail on the head.
I'm currently going through this myself.. Cold start = fine, Hot start = gotta wait about 5-10 min or it wont start at all.
04 Rx8 with 72,500 miles on it. Im pretty sure the reason mine is failing so early is just was RR stated above.. Lack of Lubrication. I started Pre-mixing Idemitsu 4 months ago after doing the Mazda Zoom cleaning twice and it didnt help at all.
This compounded with the fact that 50k worth of miles was in Germany going 120+ every day to and from work seems to have cooked it and is sending my engine to an early grave.
I cant bring it to a dealership because its branded "Rebuilt" so my warranty is void.
I am buying a replacement from Mazda as they seem to be substantially subsidized (a new/reman for $2010.00?? YES PLEASE), and putting it in myself.
And I'll be buying stock in Idemitsu for this new engine. RR... It was recommended 4oz per fill-up. From the sound of it you recommend more?

Before you spend too much, consider changing your starter. I've had the same problem for seven months which lead me to premix when I noticed the "hard starts", then finally I changed the starter last night and my confidence of starting the car after shut-off went up. No more "cross-my-fingers-that-the-engine-restarts".
New upgraded starter, cold-start and DSC reset.

I haven't had a compression test done and this doesn't seem to be a consistent issue for us. My daughter is the primary driver of the 8 and she doesn't do a lot of running around and stopping and starting. She typically gets in the car and goes from point A to B and then the car sits for a while before being restarted and going back from B to A. The normal exception to this is stopping between A and B or B and A when the car needs more gas. It does happen often, though. After filling up with gas, we turn the key and it's as if the engine is going to start so we let off the key and it doesn't start after all. Immediately repeat and it starts right up.

I have the same exact problem, including noticing it after filling up with gas.
Compression test in a few days for mine.
