Warranty sux help plz
I want to put a K&N Typhoon intake in my car i kno it will probably give me a couple less HP but i want the sound the car already goes fast enough for what i use it for.
But my problem is it will void my warranty.
Has any1 tried putting in an intake and then swapping the stock box back in anytime u have to go back to the dealer? i kno it sounds annoying but it would be worth it for me
Is there anyway they could tell? or has any1 tried this and got away with it... or caught?
Thx

IT will void ur warranty only if they can prove that it actually damage whatever parts they have.
I understand the manufacture's concerns, cuz they should not be liable for any stupid thing that the customers did to their car, which happens quite often actually. Those guys at the dealership should be able to tell if the car has been abused or taken care of. but sadly MOST dealerships want quick money out of the poor sheeps(cuz its easy to get customer money, while its hard to bill warranty), and will do anything they can to void it (by making **** up)

Your dealer is just being and *** and obviously isnt too mod friendly.
And no they wouldnt notice if you kept switching them, but you shouldnt have to.

Anyway, lots of dealership out there are cool with mods. some might want you to swap it back to stock b4 they would do anything.
Obviously the dealership u've been to just trying to be an ***. so go somewhere else.

i dunno how they would kno if i took it off carefully enough, i mean they have to mess with the thing to put a new filter in so they'll probably think they've done somethin last time, i dont think my dealer is that smart u might be but i doubt they are

Read around the forum and you'll soon realize that finding a good Mazda dealership is not easy.
I'm trying to work up my tolerance for BS because I need to go in and get my tail lights replaced (moisture). I'm sure they're going to be all over me trying to sell me on other services that I don't need.

Different dealers will tell you different things. My dealer has been more than willing to provide warranty work even with all my aftermarket modifications. Law states that a dealership must provide proof that your aftermarket parts caused an issue for what ever warranty service you require. Most dealers will tell you that any modifications void warranty simply because the dealership does not make any money off of warranty services.
go for the MazdaSpeed cold air intake, if they try and give you any grief just tell them that its a genuine Mazda part.

Here's an option...If you are that concerned, you can pay to have the dealership install it. They place a tag under the hood indicating that it was a dealership install with the date and you should be good to go. They shouldn't even be hassling you, but some of them are like that.
Even going Mazdaspeed doesn't guarantee they'll be okay. I contacted the dealer before purchasing a MS CAI for my Speed3. He told me they had issues with water ingestion and that they void the warranty based on that. I went with the MS intake on my 8 and have no problems. I did, however, find a tag under my hood from the previous owner for unknown work. Probably an intake. I just installed my own intake and the tag should cover me. They will probably rape you on the install, but at least it should be covered because they never should have installed it if it was going to cause a problem, right? Let us know what happens.

Find a new dealer, that is the quickest and cheapest solution. Dealers are different, I literally had one dealer tell me to redline my car to keep it healthy and another dealer tell me if they could prove I was shifting above 3K they would void my warranty Oh and that was when I was stock.
Dealers are different, find a dealer that is looking out for you, not just looking to make quick money off of you.
