Exclamation Warranty Up!!!!

Well I have gone and done it. I actually put 50,000 miles on my 8 in exactly one year.

Does anyone know which is the first time bomb to go off??? What should I be prepared for to fall apart first?

How many others have reached this milestone to date????

You are probably the first in North America with 50k, so you are the pioneer. Let us know what happens. Everything ok so far?

That's damned impressive... that's a lot of quality time with your '8 :D

Hopefully anything major would have already reared it's ugly head... just keep the oil fresh and happy revving!

It looks like he spends a significant amount of his life surrounded by the interior of whatever he's taking to work. I'd say he's getting *way* more out of his >$26,000 than any of us. But then, I don't understand people who save Ferrari's for sunny weekends.

Have you replaced anything on your RX8?
If so what?
I'd consider a aftermarket warranty.

Because they are rich and have nothing better to spend money on.

While my -8 is my daily driver, I'm on about a 9500/year pace - I work from a home office, therefore no commute, and the primary place I drive this to is as a "kid bus" - taking my sons to soccer games, school, practices, etc. Gotta say that the guys sure love being dropped off in this monster rather than a mom-mobile like all their friends.

I used to drive 40,000/year - was in sales, had a 30 mile commute each way to work followed by at least 50 or more miles a day of sales call driving. It's pretty easy to put on a bunch of miles with a job like that.

...save the car in the garage? I'm at 36,000 in 15 months and I don't regret it one bit. My nephew been driving my previous car (91 Geo metro 4 door 3 speed automatic) as a loaner to work since I purchaced my car. I've got a grin on my face all the time.

Say, is the warranty 50k or 40k, for those of us who opted for the free warranty due to "lost performance" (think Metro again- he he!) that Mazda USA offered?

I agree! Why buy a car to be a weekend queen? I understand dedicated race cars where the suspension will kill you during a commute. But for any other car purpose, I buy it to drive it. If you can't handle the depreciation of the high miles than buy another less expensive car. In other words, if your budget is say 10k per year in total cost, then you could buy an expensive (overly IMHO, but I think VALUE is the most important factor) porsche and only drive it on the weekends, keep it for 4-5 years and sell it with 10-15k miles at a pretty hefty price. Total cost of ownership is x dollars. Or you could buy a less expensive RX-8, and drive it daily and sell it 4-5 years later with 150-200k miles for a pretty cheap price and the total cost is still x dollars. To me, the 8 buyer is much better off. A little less performance but much more time in the car is my ticket.

That's gotta be a record here at least. Have you HAD andy sigificant issues with your 8 in the past 50k miles, and if so what are/were they?

How do you feel about the car now? How is the interior holding up? How many tires have you gone through?

What is your average MPG?

are you still on the original brake pads?

don't keep us in suspense, let us know what we can look forward to.

I salute you cars are meant to be driven, and you have certainly done your part.
