Warranty Voided

This isn't a is my warranty voided, but more of a could it be under certain conditions.

There are 2 things that I am planning on doing that could void my extended warranty. The first is to install the SOHN adaptor. Technically by installing it, the engine oil that mazda recommends is no longer being injected into the engine which is, again technically, not what mazda recommends but we all know is better for the engine. If by doing this, could I be voiding the warranty?

Also is autocross. Plain and simple is in 2-3 years I want to start autocross, would participating in this also void the warranty since it's not beind used for it's intended use?

The short version is that Mazda has to prove that what you did caused the problem. The SOHN adapter can definitely cause a hassle with the warranty if the dealer decides to fight it. Autocross on the other hand won't affect your warranty as 1) nothing in the owners manual says you can't race the car (and your operating the car within the confines of what mazda deemed as "safe" via the rev limiter, ECU tune, etc), and 2) mazda would never known you ever participated in any kind of autocross event unless you tell them.

That's what I assumed, wanted someone else opinion though... Someone had the idea of using a catch can to hold to 2 stroke. Suppose I could do it that way and claim that it's a catch can and they wouldn't know unless they actually looked into it?

The problem is that as soon as they do see it installed, and understand what you disabled in order to install it, and the issue your car has is low compression related, then all they have to do is say that your installed SOHN system ran out of oil at one point, and the engine ran dry.

You can't ever prove that it didn't run dry, but now they have a legal out.

You have to decide what's more important to you:

If the engine fails, do you want Mazda to pay for a replacement, or are you willing to pay for it out of your own pocket?

BC.

Ugh that's true. Sucks but I guess best thing for now would be to keep the adaptor out so I don't risk that happening. Thanks for the advice.
