Warranty work on out of warranty RX8?

Has anyone been sucessfull in having warranty work performed on out of warranty vehicles? My RX8 is 6k miles out of warranty and I have a cracked engine mount I would like to have replaced under the TSB that came out last fall. I just purchased the RX8 3 weeks ago from a private owner. I have never used my local Mazda dealer as I never had a Mazda before.

No can do sir

You're out of luck !

Well, what you can do is, order the motor mount from one of our forum vendors (like Tommy @ Rosenthal OR Jason @ OnlineMazdaParts.Com)

Then install it yourself, or do it at some local garage.(30-50 bux labor should do)

I think it's hard enough for the guys to get warranty work done that are in warranty, much less those that are out.

I picked my car up from shop yesterday....unfortunately it has to go back Monday... still hard to start and Im worried about hard start causing flood. Dealer told me they replaced an engine that had 104K miles on it under the recall 2 weeks ago. Good Luck Sport! Savannah isn't that far from Myrtle Beach may be worth the drive if you haven't gotten mounts yet. Beach Mazda 843-626-3666

I asked because GM has a program for cars that are only slightly out of warrantycalled "goodwill". If you've ever used the same dealer before and are a good customer they will honor your out of warranty vehicle up to say 10% over.

I didn't go to the dealer, I bought expos mounts and bracket. Cery fast shipping I might say.

Bran, your hard start might be bad coils. I had the same problem when engine was warm, hard starting. I replaced all 4 coils for $100 and it fixed the problem.

I thought it may have been my coils also, so I bought those from the dealer at $148 put those in on August 4th, after a week & half in the shop they said it had no compression...cleaned cat, installed starter plug kit. Picked it up Friday and still have to take it back due to hard start when engine is good and warm & still has the rattle which to me sounds like lifters on a piston engine. Stumps me, Service Advisor said I know more about the engine than he does.... now thats a scary thought LOL! This is my 3rd dealer with this car......

Dealers are very good at selling , but when it comes to working in a car , different story . Especially if your out of warranty.

hmmm 3 years after I bought the car and I haven't had much luck with the previous 2 dealer's working on it warranty or no warranty. How I hope the new dealer that opened about a 6 weeks ago is better. So far they have 1 strike against them..... they don't answer the phone nor return calls very well.
