I speak on behalf of the council. Kill this thread, we must.
Owners Manual + Search Button would have answered this guy's question far faster then it took him to start this thread.
WarCrunk unfortunately loves starting useless threads.

Oh well.

I like that idea. No discussion.... just what you are using. No snide horsepoop, no "my dad said", just what you have in your car and shut up.

Want another log tossed on?

Valvoline told me that all 5w20 oil contains synthetic stock. So Mazda's 5w20 North American spec means we're told to use synthetic...despite their non-recommendation.

I thought I read somewhere (BITOG, maybe?) that the specs for SM make using at least a semi-syn base almost a requirement...

5W-20, usually swing by mazda and buy it from them and although it's surely more expensive, they give me an extra litre every so often for free so it balances out. I will say that i'm having a bit of trouble accurately telling how much oil I need ... since the car (and oil) is so new, it's really thin and I can barely see it sometimes. Guess that's a good thing, no sludge, no mess.

Hey, I'm just surprised that nobody has told the OP to just drink the used oil.

He seems like a real winner.

Proud user of Castrol GTX 5W-20, the way Mazda's rotary gods intended.
