We are no longer unique!!!
I have had the great pleasure of driving my RX-8 since last October. Throughout the fall and winter in Northern New Jersey, I was lucky to see one other RX-8 every couple of weeks. Since Spring has come, I am seeing RX-8's on the road every day, some days I see 4 or more. I even saw another one in my town.
Either the drivers had winter beaters, or people are finally discovering what we already know. RX-8 is a great car, a pleasure to drive, and quite a bargain and are starting to buy them in large numbers. I noticed that at the website of the dealer where I got my car, that they now have less than half of the inventory of rx-8s compared to several months ago.
Any way, whether old owner, or new owner, enjoy your car.

We are unique
I hope I didn't give anyone the impression that it is a bad thing to see other RX-8's on the road. The intent of the post was to state that RX-8's finally seem to be catching on and that is a very good thing for the drivers and the future of the model

No one ever waves to me I think they are catching on, which is good because Mazda deserves credit for designing this machine. I only see a few, but I'm starting to see more. We don't have a winter here, so you'd think they would've caught on earlier.

Noone every waves back to me either. I make a point to honk and wave but usually they just look behind them thinking I am waving to someone else.
I saw a post on here (but I cannot find it now) which had invitations to join RX8club.com. I would love to keep them in my car to put on windshields of other 8 owners or hand it to other owners when I see them.
Does anyone know where I can find these?

I live in manhattan, (and had the first 8 in NYC I'm sure (in August) but now I see them almost every weekend here in the city- almost every Fri-sat-sun.
And most seem to be my color- Titanium
Fun to see it on the road- but no one buy any more in the Tri- state area- OK? They are a really lousy car- they flood, OK?
Poor low end torque- OK- really - don't buy one........ I'll just suffer with mine..... Damn Mazda.....

Stuck in a love triangle
I sawmy exact clone yesterday and itwas an awkward feelingsince only afew months ago I had ahigher chance of being in a car crash then seeing another Rx8.
Anyway whenI see other Rx8s on the road I revmy engine. Not toosure if they interpret that theright way. I supposethats not too friendly of me but atleast Im acknowledging them. Mostdrive by anddont seem too thrilledto see another Rx8 onthe road. Then again I amdriving in ******* central herein Miami.
Ithink a mainreason why were seeingmuch more on the road now is b/c the 2005 modelsare coming soon so the dealerships are finally offering the typeof deals on the 2004 Rx8s that theyshould have been making last year. Todayyou can get one under invoice while I couldntfind any dealer backwhen I got mine last August who would sell onebelow MSRP.
I cant say Imglad I didnt wait but atleast I felt extra prestigious for a time.

well, I desperately wanted to buy the car in october(that was when it was introduced in my country) but I finally managed to get it in spring (march) this makes me a new owner, like rxjoe said, but I guess it's something more to that :p

.
meaning I considered myself an 'owner' since I saw the first pics of the car, years back!

eh, got mine last July and I have seen about 7 since then in my area. What I see a lot of around here is the G35 coupe. They are everywhere. There are 3 in my small neighborhood alone. The RX8 is still pretty unique IMO.

It's always cool to see another '8 on the road in action. As a owner most of your time is spent inside the car and you can't really enjoy seeing it in motion. However, secretly I wanted sales to level off so that the ownership experience is more exclusive

Sorry to make it less exclusive, but I live in North New Jersey and got mine 48 hours ago. It is fantastic!!! I had a G35 Coupe from Nov-02 till Feb this year, traded it for something more practical (Honda Accord) had terrible withdrawl symptoms so convinced my wife to take the Accord instead of our Expedition (Gas guzzler etc). The RX-8 cost about 12k less than the G35 yet I feel more comfortable in it and at least for me it has everything I could want in a car.
