Weight??

So I keep reading about how light the rx8 is (~3000lb)...and then I was reading about the eclipse and people saying how rediculously heavy the car is (~3500lb). So I decide to take alook at the weight of mine....and on the door of my car it says the curb weight is about 3800lb! That weight makes a mustang look light next to my "light and nimble" rx8. Is that right?? My car is fully loaded...but do all those extra options really add 800lb?? I'm assuming that includes the spare tire...how much does that weigh? I might take it out...but I don't see it weighing more then 50lb or so...prob won't make too much of a difference. Ah well...price you pay for options I guess

I wonder if a base A/T is faster then me...

there is no way your car weighs 3800 lbs, not even with you in it and a soaking wet.

That's what it says...1823lb front and 1986lb back. Unless that's some crazy japanese pounds they're using.

You are looking at the GROSS axle ratings. All vehicles are required to carry this rating. That's the maximum load capacity. Try subtracting the maximum load. Based on weighings of owners here even the GT does not break 3k by more than a few lbs and that's wet.

My formerly fat *** sure as hell fits in the seat better. Need to drop another 30 so I can pick up another 1/10th on my 0-60 time!

The old fashioned way - eating less and exercising more. No magic bullets or fad diets. Biggest issue for me is portion control and not binge snacking. I travel a ton for biz, so ordering right is key too - fish instead of a big steak, veggies instead of a baked spud, less salad from the salad bar, and easier on the alcohol. And LOTS of water.

Good trick: If you think you're hungry - drink a big glass of ice water in a couple of minutes. Chances are, that's all you needed. Plus the cold tummy causes your brain to turn off the hunger signal.

I know one guy here weighed his base 6speed 8 and it was 2960 lb. 3800 is impossible with any trim package.
