Not in the U.S.

Mazda decided to force the sunroof on anyone who wanted the Touring or GT packages here; such is not the case for Canada...

35 Lbs difference
I recalculated the effect of Cg change with a 35 lb increase from a sunroof. Cg goes from 455 mm to 465 mm which is a 2.2% increase. In addition there is now an additional 35 lbs of mass acting on the now 465mm moment arm. The increased roll moment, which is actually more important, is 3.4% larger. This is significant.

Thanks for the data. I hate roll. Feels like you have lead in your trunk. That's why I like motorcycles. Cars lean the wrong way. Are you using a special tool to calculate the CG change and increase in roll percentages?

FD RX-7 Weights

Look what I found:

Model Year Summary : In 1995...the last year America would see the RX-7 being sold off Mazda's car-lots....very few changes were made. However the suspension was further softened to improve the acclaimed harsh ride by installing softer bushings in the suspension. Mazda sold the 1995 model through 1996 until they decided to discontinue exporting RX-7's to America. In April of 96, Mazda formally announced they would stop importing RX-7s to North America, however the RX-7 continued to be sold elsewhere around the world.

General Specifications
Suggested New Retail Price : $34,000
EPA Gas Mileage: 17 City / 25 Highway
Curb Weight:
2,789lbs Base Model with 5 Speed Manual
2,857lbs Base Model with 4 Speed Automatic
2,800lbs R2 (5 Speed only, no Automatic available)
2,862lbs Touring Model with 5 Speed
2,923lbs Touring Model with 4 Speed Automatic
Ok, for comparison purposes only:

RX-7 Base Model is equivalent to RX-8 Base Model (Duh)

RX-7 R2 is equivalent to RX-8 Sports Package

RX-7 Touring Model is equivalent to RX-8 GT Package and included the same options as the R2 plus sunroof, BOSE audio, etc.

So the difference from Base 5-speed to top-of-the-line Touring 5-speed is 73 lbs.

Thanks for the data neit_jnf. I thought the number would be closer to 100 lb. Did the RX7 have power seats in 95?
