Weight difference in RX-8
Does anyone know the weight of RX-8's that have cloth seats instead of ones that have leather and weigh 3050 lbs? It seems like all those options would add a lot of weight. If anyones had their car weighed lately with a dyno or something please reply.

The cloth seat models do weigh less. Owners with base and sport package models have reported well under 3000 lbs when their cars were weighed. Someone with a base model and a very low tank of gas even reported a weight of just under 2900 lbs (2880? or something like that.)

They are about 90 pounds less than the GT models, which is why a lot of different magazines have different 0-60 times. Some tested the rx8 2 times, but with different trim levels, and had different results. I believe i saw 2960 for the base (not weighed, rather quoted from somewhere) and i know some people had theirs weighed here and was even less. the GT is usually over 3000 pounds, closer to 3050.

^ Whoa, was that on a scale? What kinda of scale? Or did you read that off of a magazine? I remember some lame writer compared Mustang and RX-8, and listed the RX-8 at 3800 lbs, while the Mustang at around 3300 I think. Big surprise why the RX-8 had a shorter breaking distance than the stang.

gross weight is usualy just the curb weight + the max capacity, so if you subtract it, you should get pretty close to your curb weight.
The car is pretty light compared to the other cars in this class.
The GT (loaded) adds a lot of weight over the base (striped) becuase it has leather heated seats, with a power drivers seat, sunroof, heated mirrors plus the bigger brakes and stuff.
I can see it being about 100lbs more, the Touring package is prolly 70lbs more then base, the sport is prolly around 50lbs more than base.
Those are just my guesses

Correction:
The only RX8's that have different sized rims or breaks...are the Automatic RX8's.
The 6spd base to 6spd GT have the same performance equipment minus the traction control stuff.
From all that I've read...I've never heard that the base 6 spd and GT 6spd had performance changes.

^ If a halogened RX-8 was standing solo, you wouldn't be able to tell if it didn't have HIDs on. But when it's sitting next to the xenons, my base 8 just looks wimpy.

True plus u cant see anything with the halogens compared to the hids. I also have the appearance package because i feel it makes the car look more aggressive short of a bodykit.
