Certainly, it does have some simple amusement value, starting with a guy who doesn't even know that a car battery is heavy, wanting to cut 800 pounds off his (already fairly light) car, while retaining a roof, engine and transmission, and without using CF or any other replacements.

Haven't seen this link posted in this thread, but read through it. This is how you get an RX8 down to 2200 pounds or less, depending on how far you take it.

BTW....This kid figured out how to get 1000, 2000, hell 3000 lbs of an 8. The secret???? You just have to get an "imaginary 8"

Some advice;
Step 1. Get an RX-8. (the rest of the step are unimportant at this point)

yeah, he hasnt even bought an rx8. so technically his rx8 weighs nothing can run the 1/4 mile in in less than a second, and run the nurburgring as fast as he can imagine it.

these would help:

Akina,

Kersh got you started. This is actually a different angle than has ever been attempted before. All you have to do is start buying an RX-8 in pieces, weigh each piece when you get it and stop buying stuff and see if you can put a real car together when you reach what ever your goal weight is (2000, 2200 lbs., whatever) Good luck.

BTW....The dash and interior items are light compared to the transmission, frame, engine, etc. I would suggest you buy that stuff last.
