i just turned off the rx8 and i hear this fan ive never heard it before and its been couple mins. any idea anyone.. i am on AIM right now my sn is nyshocka if u know what it is..

 

it's normal. the car is hot and it's trying to cool things off before shutting off.

 

don't worry about it. on all 8's, the fan will run for up to 10 minutes after you shut the car off, especially when the engine's very warm.

 

It's the fan on the Rx8, the one in front of the radiator. It runs when the car is on, and if it's particularly warm out it will run for a while after the engine has been turned off. I beleive there's even a warning on the fan housing to beware of automatic fan oeration when working under the hood.

It's normal.

many of the first boaters experienced this LAST summer. it's not a problem. the problem is the amount of new owners who only had the car thru cooler/winter weather when the fan didn't need to run. most cars now adays have an electric fan that is cued to run even when the car is off, depending on temperature. i am really suprised by the amount of people that find this odd.

Haha shocka, if I didn't know any better I'd call you a newb! I live in Texas where it's hell on hearth during the summer, so I heard the fan come on after the drive from the dealership. I assumed it was normal operation because it turned off after about 10 minutes. Anyways, why don't you change the thread title to "Fan Noise With Engine Off Normal!"

 

Am I the only one who enjoys reading the manual that comes with a new car? It tells you about this and other things that you should know. I think I've read through the whole thing twice. Is that weird?
