Weird noise while shifting from 1-2 or N-2

Does not happen on short drives. Starts only after I drive about 30-40 miles. It is some kind of a 'hard knock on wood' type of a sound while the shifter is moving between N and 2. I always push the clutch all the way down. The engine oil level is fine. I might take it to the dealer. In the meantime, any thoughts guys.

Thanks in advance!

Can you tell where the noise is coming from--engine or transmission? There have been some problem with failing shifter forks and clutches, so if it is shifting hard when you hear the noise, it could be one of those issues. Have the dealer check it out, but make sure the car is making the noise before you take it in or the dealer may refuse to do anything unless they can duplicate the problem.

hey, we have the same thing in all of our cars with a six speed. 04 RX-8, Honda s2000, 06 eclipse GT V6 6sp, you will always hear the transmission when shifting 1-2+N. Its normal.
