weird smell

so heres my story; i was on the FWY goin about 35, this guy in front was goin SLOW. so i switch over to the next lane, thing is, the fwy merges into one lane (new fwy, still in construction further up)

so, basically, i try and pass afew cars to merge back into my lane, and this guy in a Titan sees me coming i guess because he just starts gunning it so i wont be able to cut him off. I drop shift and just gun it too and eventually blow passed him. i hit 9k before shifting again

after the FWY ends i get off to the streets and start smelling a burnt plastic smell. when i get home i check out the car, doesnt seem to be coming from the engine, so im thinking it could be the clutch?

this is my 1st sports car (my last car was a 97 eclipse)

ive only got 3600 miles on her so im just abit worried about what the smell was.

if it helps any:

Perhaps a plastic bag stuck to the catalytic converter? This has happened to many car owners. It takes a weeks or so to burn off.

yeah I just got my car and the first time a "ran it hard" I had that smell a few minutes after I slowed down I only had that once but I don't know what it is. It still ran fine every once and a while I'll get a "hot brake" smell but I don't know what that is I get it about once a day but none of my rotors are overly hot. IDK I'd say you'll be fine i've never had any probs

now that you mention it, there was ALOT of plastic bags and other trash lying around my car at work at the parking lot (was a windy day) that might just be the smell; it was pretty bad yesterday but today its ALMOST gone; so Im gonna have my fingers crossed.

04RX8man, yeah this was really the 1st time I also ran her hard, before i would just bring her up to 8 or 9k for only a second or so on a clear road once every few days, since theres so much posted about the 8 needing to have rev high to clean out any deposits. ill try checking under the car in the morning to see if anything was heat glued to my cat.

I've gotten plastic bagged twice. The second one came literally the day I stopped noticing the smell of the first one.

I knew it happened both times - first time, I was on the interstate and the bag blew around the car in front of me, then under my car. Checked the mirror and there was no more bag. Second one, I was on the interstate again and an empty bag of ice blew over the wall from a construction zone and I was right there to catch it. Again, saw it go under and never come out the back. It was depressing.

Is that worse than getting teabagged?

Speaking of you being a jerk, Tiggerlee - there's a meet at the Waterford Ale House this weekend. You should drop by.
