Weird Sound going from N to 1st/R

There's this weird sound like a belt is rewrapping itself around something when going from N to 1st or Reverse Gears. Not only do i hear this sound, but i also spotted a kind of gravel-ly sound coming from the floorboard/motor region of the car. This is on a 2010 RX8 R3 with 3k Miles on it. Anyone have any idea what it might be?

is it like a deep "donk" sound?

it kind of sounds like a seatbelt 'zipping.' For the gravel-ish sound, there's no other way to describe it. It sounds just like that with minor rumbling - or burning out on gravel minus the wheels screeching.

It should be under warranty. Bring it back to the dealer and have it checked.
