Weird Sudden Torque Today...
I have an 09 GT Manual with about 35k miles.
So as I was merging onto the highway today in 3rd gear at around 3-4k rpms I floored it and at around 5k rpms the car suddenly lunged forward like a few horses just woke up. It felt like an automatic downshifting when you floor it.
The smooth consistent power delivery of the 8 has been something I have grown to love and this was not smooth.
Has anyone else felt this before? I've driven a few 8's and never had this happen before. I'm wondering if the self destruct countdown has been activated as I near the 36k mile mark.
My best guess is that when I initially floored it I flooded the engine somewhat and then as it cleared out at the higher RPM's it ran smooth again at the power delivery that it should have been at had it not been flooded.
My other guess is that the Wankle fairies were hiding in my rotors until I rev'ed up enough to purge them from my chambers.

as funny as this thread is..
I'm a noob at rotaries but some thread on this site talked about 3 sets of ports that open at certain intervals..is it possibly the ports have some carbon buildup, and they finally opened fully?
on a side note, I once was told by a civic owner who got a vtec controller that he set his vtec to open up at 6600 rpm, his reasoning was that vtec is like turbo, and if you make it open higher, the more hp it gives you. I still laugh about that..

Lol at all the replies. It was an odd kick down. Not like any other time I have floored it. Maybe it hit a full charge of VPower gas.
The torque kinda threw me back and scared me. I think I smacked 159 right in the face.
