Well the 8 is in the shop
Well she is in the shop. I started noticing last week that when I was getting on it, I could hear an exhaust "popping" noise sounding like it was coming from underneath the car and the car would lose power. Then when it would shift, it was like it had no power at the low RPM's. I took it in to the shop today and they are going to be looking more tomorrow but apparently it doesnt look like an exhaust leak but instead they were looking at a vac pump, fuel injection system and some other things. This confuses me cause it sounds EXACTLY like my 10th Anniversary 280zx when it had its blown exhaust manifold gasket. We will see what they say tomorrow...I am just hoping she is out of the shop soon
I just put a Simota intake on her and have clear side markers, LED bulbs for the side markers and parking lights, rotary emblems for the front and back lower part of the bumpers and a knew RX8 rotary shaped volume **** for the stereo...all waiting at home for her. I know those dont sound too exciting but for me its nice and I am excited to put them on. I dont want to dump a lot of money into making her beefed up for HP, just want her looking sharp and turning heads
Lets keep our fingers crossed for tomorrow and hope its something simple and quick to fix...but I am scared its not since I think they would have found it earlier today when I dropped her off

Thank you sir. Well I just got off the phone with the dealership. Earlier today they had me bring my stock intake down cause the Simota intake is SO loud they couldn't really hear the popping noise from the engine to decide where its at. So they put the stock intake on after taking off the intake manifold and cleaning the entire intake manifold and top of the engine where it hooks up. They said this morning it seemed to be a backfire in the engine in the intake manifold area. They think that has stopped however they still get the popping noise like an exhaust leak which is what I told them when I took it in. It feels like it cause I can feel in the pedals the sound bouncing off the pavement and back against the car...and it sounds like my 280ZX when it blew its exhaust manifold gasket. So, they have my stock intake on and have the car back together except now they are going to try and take the exhaust manifold off and see if it is the issue. They said after they get it all fixed, then they will drive it and test with the stock intake. Then they will put my aftermarket back on and if it doesn't mess it up when they test drive it with that on, then they will leave the aftermarket on. I am 100% sure it wont affect it since it was doing this for the last 3 weeks and I just put the intake on this weekend. They said they think the aftermarket may have made the issue worse since it changed the readings they were getting for the air ratio into the engine. I think they will find a blown exhaust manifold gasket when they pull it apart...its gotta be an exhaust leak.

Well I just got another call from the dealership...they are doing a couple more tests and then will have the final decision on my car but they said as it looks now, they are looking at replacing the engine. They said I should know by tomorrow at noon. Just means longer I go without my car

Well its official, I have had my RX8 for 2 months and they made it official today...they ordered a replacement engine. I didnt buy the car from a mazda dealership so they sent it to one to have them look at it and they said I have lost compression in the motor and its shot. So, they ordered the engine today and should have it by next week mid week. At least I will have a new engine in to make it down to the Texas8
