welling to buy an exhaust system, need help choosing one plz.

Hi guys. I’m welling to buy an exhaust system; however, I don’t know which one I should choose. I know some people would say: just do a search and you will know. Well, I did a search and I’ve tried to find something, but I couldn’t. I’m really new to this and I want your help.
I’ve heard that the greedy is good and the HKS. I don’t really know which on to pick. I also, would like to know which one would give me more HP if it gives.
if there is no different on the HP so I would ask which one has a better sound or which one is better for the car.
Thank you.

now for my answer, realistically, all exhausts perform about the same on this car, you're not gonna be lookin at and real HP gain, except from what i heard the turboXS exhaust gives like 7HP i don't remember off the top of my head, but all others are gonna be more for tone so pick one ya like the sound of

I have the AP Exhaust. Not on your list, nor have I dyno'd stock or modified & it sounds good. Fits good too. Its decently loud, so I didn't replace the cat with the supplied pipe though.

theres sound clips all over the internet, greddy is a more raspy louder sound, borla is a little louder than stock but alot lower than the greddy, etc.

search on the thread: exhausts, exhausts, exhausts. It has a full list of the RX8 aftermarket exhausts.

You'll get more out of a high flow cat. The exhaust is more for sound, which is fine because there are some that sound really good. Just get one for the right reason.

I've heard the Greddy, Borla, and Racing Beat in person. I think the Greddy sounds the best but I would buy the Racing Beat because it's a quieter when cruising but opens up nicely when you romp on it. The Greddy tends to be louder all the time.

remember this is just my opinion. racing beat looks the best. borla sounds the best. again, that's just my opinion.

greddy is way cheaper than racing beat or borla though.

which HKS? hipower or legamax? either way I'd say HKS, but those do have a bit of difference that makes the decision easier maybe.

The hipower is nicer I think. As far as performance there wont be a huge difference, though the HiPower is lighter. The HiPower is also a single outlet, not dual like the legamax or greddy. The biggest thing would be that the HiPower would (or theoretically would) be much better for a turbo/supercharger set up and flow better.

Here's videos of each, on the same car so this might help compare:

HiPower: http://youtube.com/watch?v=MpcXzlmDgpo

Legamax: http://youtube.com/watch?v=i8xiKSU9B...elated&search=

hope this helps!

if you have the money, then go for the HKS. if not i think the greddy is just as good as the HKS!

oh yeah, another note about the hipower over the legamax... a good amount cheaper coming in at $450 while the legamax is close to $1000. So... I'd imagine that should help the decision too

all the exhausts will fit....they're made specifically for the car

IMO the best thing you can do is go to a meet and listen to some people's in person. the greddy is not raspy like someone above said, it's low toned, and quiet at highway cruising speed

personally i like the sound of the corksport exhaust, its lighter (25 lbs) and farily cheap ($550) but has tips you will eithe rlove or hate. i am still on the exhaust hunt as well.

side note about raspyness: I believe this happens with a lot (maybe all) aftermarket catbacks, but when they are new, they will sound more raspy. After getting some mileage they will reach their normal sound which tends to be less raspy. I experienced that with mine and have heard that about a couple others at least.

One that needs to be mentioned is the Hymee Thunder from down under.

With a midpipe or high flow cat it does not drone during cruising but when opened up it is louder than the Greddy SP2 but quieter than the Corksport with a midpipe.

The tips are double walled too.

Jeez, you guys had to go and do it........

........I swore that when I bought my 8 that I would be perfectly content and happy with stock considering all the money I have flushed down the toilet in years past....

But after hearing those audios posted, my dick got hard..........) Yep, looks like a new exhaust in is my very near future..........

thanx a lot guys, hehe...............
