Whack MAF readings

ive searched all over and cant find the answer so please don't bash to hard.

I just got my accessPORT in the mail today and i was looking at my MAF readings when i noticed that my max reading though out all my gears at wide open throttle is 207 g/s. for some reason i feel like that's not right.... at all. anyone know a possible cause for this? This is the person who also had the problems with the aftermarket intakes and acceleration problems. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

WOT below 200 g/s would indicate a possible issue.
Over 200 g/s is pretty normal depending on local conditions.

You don't mention if you think that is too high or too low. Do you think it should be 206g/s?

Either way, until your MAF has been scaled correctly, you can't really trust their absolute values because they are all just that little bit different. You can't compare one MAF to another. Once they have been scaled correctly, then the absolute values should be pretty close to compare with other MAFs.

You need to post a log file.
MT or AT?
Year?

The log is important to get an accurate RPM reading.
You may think you are at 8000 rpm by the dashboard gauge but they can be off by as much as 500 rpm! The discrepancy increases as the rpm's increase.

Doing a WOT trying to watch the g/s and RPM's IMO is crazy ... log it, post it.

alright ill post the log after work, i just seem to think that's a little low, and my AFR doesn't go below 11.5 which seems normal, with no throttle being at 20.3

Only slightly low, perhaps.
Rarely do you see many get over 230 g/s typically 220's

11.5 afr for NA motor is waaaay rich. That's what I'm running at 11.5 psi

NA should be 13.2 to 13.8

The max MAF reading will also depend strongly on your altitude (air density). Simply "plugging in" another tune sounds attractive, but, perhaps unfortunately, each car needs to be optimized individually. An a/f of 11.5 at WOT with a stock map is not at all unusual and makes sense from Mazda's POV. If your MAF sensor or some other parameter drifts with age and you end up with 13.0, you're still ok; if it drifts from 13.5 to 15.0 at wot, your engine is in deep trouble.

There's no lazy quick way to do this (except perhaps an MM tune).

There is no such thing.

edit -- when you're tired of looking at your Maf readings head on over to here --> https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-engine-tuning-forum-63/coil-dwell-settings-protuner-accessport-178635/

And let your braingell think about this for awhile

This would be the closest thing to what you would call a Stage 2 map, aka custom tune.

Nice call on the altitude ... +1

thanks for the info. any one have any maps that have better AFR values through gears 1-3 and 4-6 or maps that you have you could send me, or show me what some better values are for this stage one map (for all of the map sections) so i can tweak it a little here and there.

Every engine is different. The sensors are all a bit different. Stage 1 is a "universal" tune that SHOULD be a bit better than OEM, though it's entirely possible to be worse.

To go farther you have ONLY 1 option, and that is to get the car tuned. This is because your car is unique, and needs adjustments that remain unique to your car specifically.

Your 3 tuning options are:
A) through a remote calibration service
B) through actual dyno time
C) Learning how to tune yourself.

The people that know how to tune charge money for a reason. Because it's valuable. You won't find someone just giving it away for free.

What problem are you having?

Just to make it simple ... leave the default logging parameters and post a 10 second idle log.

Using the AP connected to you car
Select Monitor
Select Data Log
Press Centre button to acknowledge prompt
Press Centre button to start data log
Wait 10 seconds
Press Centre button to turn of log
Unplug Ap

Plug AP in to computer
Launch AP Manager
Download Data log file to known directory
File should save as Datalog###.csv
Rename file -- Idle

Post file on forum

Repeat for a WOT Run
Rename file WOT Gear#

I thought this thread was about your low g/s (Maf) not your AFR's?

I don't think your going to get anybody to give you and AFR maps ...

You need to address the Maf scaling first before anything.
