If I'm in the front seat, why would I put something in the back seat that I intend to be using when I'm driving? If I have a drink in the car (only water allowed) I don't want it somewhere out of my reach. I want it where I can get at it.

its very easy to reach the rear cup holders from the front seats. the trick is putting the cup in the passenger side rear cup holder (for the driver). its very easy to reach, and out of the way. i do this everyday at lunch

I love my car. Even the little quirks.
The renesis feels bullet proof. The only trouble I've had is the flooding issue. I have an 04, and Mazda covered everything, and I'm up-to-date with the newest starter, plugs, and ecu flashes.
My gas mileage and power have gone up since I bought it. Especially recently it seems.
24k miles, and loving it.

RX-8 has recieved great reliability ratings from the auto press including consumer reports. Since you are here at RX8club.com you know what you will need to do for your RX: check the oil, warm it up, and have fun! Really, the couple of quirks are easy to get used to.

3. this is listed on the car.
4. not that much
5. last I heard the engine lasts for more than 200k
6. I fit my friends in just fine, no complaints.
7. I like the sound of the engine...whiney? I dont understand...
8. this is true
9. blame japan

11. I'm afraid I have not heard of those.

maybe they changed it for the 06s

ok, not really, but you can imagine what'd it'd be like if i did

2. tis true
3. it is listed, and the actual mileage people are getting vary wildly. although i suspect its the driver. i bought my car used, and my lowest MPG in the car is higher than the previous owner's best MPG. And its not because i granny it. I drive it like its meant to be driven. not sure what the cause of the difference is.
4. yes it consumes oil, but the rate it does depends on how you drive. harder you drive, the quicker the oil consumption.
5. This isn't a twin-turbo with the least effective cooling system of any of the rotaries (FD)
6. i'm 5'11", and had 3 co-workers my height or taller in the car with no problems before. its a very functional 4 seater.
7. engine sounds great (this is highly subjective though)
8. matter of perspective. all depends on what you are used to. it has more than enough to move the car around, and quicker than most cars on the road too.
9. maybe, but who cares. if all one cares about is a number on a piece of paper, this isn't the car for them
10. mostly a problem with the 04s, that was taken care of when mazda changed brake pads to address the problem
11. there have been several members here that have experienced burnt coils. its a problem that's known about, but not all that common.

I don't care for any other mazda products.
much like I don't like any of honda's products other than the S2000, and I don't care for any of nissan's products other than the 350Z.
I am not much of a "make" person, there are many problems with many cars, I look for specific models and I don't really care who makes them.
I have heard a little on both extremes on the customer support issues with mazda, but I am sure they are not the only company to blow people off.
I think DMC was the worst car company ever, think about it, one model car, only came in one color....wasn't reliable at all, not fast, and terribly expensive.

I have a 05 with no problems except the horrible gas mileage 11 mpg city and the dealer told me this is normal. I'll be trying another soon but don't have high hopes Mazda will fix this.

I have loved every minute that I have had this car... Only problems I have had are the squeaky brakes and the car not performing well in the snow with the stock tires( Have seen a few that went well in the snow with better tires)...
Even though I am an 8 noob, I would highly suggest getting one for yourself
