What car would you have got if you didnt get the RX-8.

I had quite a few cars on my list of possibilities for my recreational vehicle, but I had it narrowed down to Nissan 370Z, Mustang GT (after 2011 model year when the 5.0L is available), RX-8, and MX-5. I test drove the MX-5 and RX-8, and found the MX-5 is just too camped for me (legroom). As much as I like the 370Z, I just couldn't get all that excited about it. I also wanted to stick with one of the two manufacturers that I have great experience with, Mazda and Ford. I have a dealer for each that I know and trust, and I've had good experiences with both brands. Although the live axle rear suspension on the current Mustang makes me cringe a bit, I love everything else about the car, and would love to have the 5.0L one that's coming out in 2011, supposedly. But ultimately, it's the RX-8 that I've always loved, and I'm more into steering and handling excellence than brute force speed, so I decided to not wait, and get an 09 RX-8.

however, if you did consider the 350z, I too was there. test drove both and went with the feel of the rx-8, and the added bonus of a rotary and 4 seats. always had a thing for the rotary since a buddy installed one into his mazda MX3

for a car thats got the same performance or better, if i didn't needed the 2 xtra seats?
honda S2K.
its an rx8 minus all the fat in a piston form, thats actually reliable and cheaper to maintain.

Only 2 cars that appeal to me as far as driving feel & excitement that are similar to the 8:
Z4 M ('06 or '07)
S2000
The bimmer's maintenance and repair costs are a big deterrent to buying, and as far as the S - convertibles are a big negative for me, but I think it's a cool little car. If they hadn't produced the 8 it definitely would've been one of those two. Ok, 90% chance it would've been. Hmmm, maybe 75%....but no lower than that.
