What to check, before warranty is over?
#26
Don't forget to check coils and water pump and engine starter. Not sure if you already have the upgraded starter, but if you don't, make something up about hard starts in the morning. That should give the mazda technician the green light to change your starter and give you the upgraded battery as well.
The RX8 is well known to come with shitty coils and water pump. I know firsthand and so do a lot of other people on this forum.

Can you guys just give me a once over and let me know if i've summarized the points in this thread and if i'm missing anything
My bumper to bumper warranty will also be running out soon in about 5k miles.
The dealer will check: The fuel pump, water pump, alternator, compression and coils. I'm assumed they can run a electrical diagnostic test on the pumps, alternator, and coils to see if there in proper working order.
I'm going to do a visual inspection myself on the undercarriage, exhaust, serpentine belt, light fixtures, the inside, and do a good once over the he whole car. Maybe i'll do a writeup on DIY: oh crap my warranty is running out.
So far these things have been replaced within in 55k miles. @ 35k The plugs (all 4), the starter, radiator flushed, tranny rebuilt, tranny fluid replaced, diff fluid replaced, and the battery have been changed. the brake fluid will be done soon and the pads are in good shape.
Is there anything I'm missing here, (cat test?) ? Am I going to over the top?

Yes, it does seem to go well with the topic. Wish I could help more, but I will say I don't feel like you can go "over the top" when it comes to getting a full comprehensive check up before the warranty runs out.
