If the steering wheel were just half an inch higher, I'd be so happy. I'm 6'3" and it's a little awkward right now. I suppose telescoping the wheel would solve that problem.

Features I'd Like

My '05 BMW X5 has a lot of convience features that I'd like at least the option of ordering. Most of these features were on my '01 BMW 530i (the car I traded in for the 8) also.

1) Auto express up/down on all windows

2) Memory feature keyed to ignition key (stores radio presets, temp presets, position or electric tilt/telescoping steering wheel, electric seat and mirror positions)

3) Residual heat - Love this. The car circulates hot are for approx 1 hr after engine shut down to stay at the desired temp setting. Great for when you go out to eat in winter and you come back to a nice warm car.

4) Bluetooth phone interface. Would LOVE this in the Rx. Phone rings, stereo mutes and you can answer the call (via steering wheel button). Voice plays through stereo speakers and headliner mic pics up your voice. When you hit the steering wheel button to hang up, the radio comes back on. Can also scroll through your phone book (again via steering wheel buttons) and it shows up on the dash. You then can hit the dial button to place the call. Great safety feature as you don't need to remove your hands from the wheel.

5) Heated steering wheel. Great for cold winter mornings.

6) Auto headlights. Dash switch has an auto/off/parking lights/regular lights settings. So you can choose the auto position if you wish.

7) Headlights that turn when going around corners. I thought this was a gimmick but it turns out it works quite well.

8) RDS for the radio. Nice to see the artist name and song titles show up on the radio display.

9) One touch close sunroof.

10) Telescoping steering wheel.

The again I ordered my 8 as a touring package because I didn't want the power seats and leather. Actually if I could have gotten Bose without the sunroof, I would have taken it.

The only convienence features I'd really like would be the one touch up/down windows and the bluetooth phone interface. The others I could do without. Then again thats what I have the X5 for.

On the JDM models we have express up on the driver's side window. Why they did not put express up/down on the passenger's side window as well is beyond me.

And the good news is that there IS a safety feature on the express up function. The window will wind back down if it senses resistance. I tested it just yesterday.

Now why don't the US models have express up?

How about an ECU that operates at maximum parameters only when one is driving, and reverts to regular "strangle mode" when being EPA tested?https://www.rx8club.com/newreply.php...te=1&p=919764#

Let's see. I don't want express up windows if it means they will open back up if they hit resistance. What if I'm trying to keep someone from reaching into the car? I don't want the window to go back DOWN.

RCA jacks would be awesome.

Headlights that aim a bit higher so I can actually see in the dark (the self adjusting is nice but sometimes I feel like I can't see 3 feet in front of the car!!)

Day night on the side view mirrors.

Another cigarette lighter jack or two.

I would like the back windows to actually go up and down not pop out.

lastly I REALLY would like the highbeam headlights to turn on by pulling the lever back not pushing it forward. I always seem to turn it on by mistake while signaling.

It needs a big red starter button! Give it even more sports car feel :D

I agree with the cooled seats. That was the first thing I thought of when I sat on the leather. Cooled cup holders and sunglass holder too...or at the very least better insulation.

Seat memory was another great idea. Glad to know everyone els has thought the same things.

Having just driven to Florida from NYC, I think that my top three would have to be:

Move the cupholders to a tray that pops out beneath the center vents. This was something that the 2000 Jetta's had and it worked well. Having a drink on a long trip that you also want an armrest for is a pita.

Hangers for hanging clothes. The best I've found to do so far is to take a security badge lanyard and attach it to the childseat anchor in the package shelf and then hook my clothes on the end that hangs over the seat...not great but better than what Mazda gave.

Power rear windows.

The rest of the features mentioned here are great also, I have the NAV system so don't really need much more of a trip computer, the windows on the 8 are the fastest of any car I've ever seen so I don't mind holding the button for 8 sec's, the A/C does suck, but I believe that I need the amp replaced. Overall I found the car very comfortable for a 16 hr drive.

I'm not so lazy that I can't flip a little lever. Replace the terrible Auto dimmer with a manual.
