Get engine stand (fingers crossed)
Get front cover and its contents removed.
Then really stuck on that big 54mm.
Any members in saint john nb have a socket and a min to crack this for me ?
That's a nice set. Did you have to buy everything separately for that, or can you get the whole set?
your set up looks nice... where did you get the wires? do you happen to have a part number?
did you use auto meter 2252 for the water and oil temp sender? and 2242 for the oil pressure sender? can you use digital gauges with your set up? do your gauges light up red at night?
i just bought the adapters from good-win racing and need to get the rest of the parts.

Did you get the front hub bolt off? It's harder than the flywheel nut and you'll want it off before you remove the flywheel. There is a tool (Mazdatrix has them, along with the big sockets) that locks the flywheel so you can remove the front hub boot without the crank spinning.

I didnt get the engine on the stand yet it needed some tweaking. And i have a chain holding flywheel still while i get the hub bolt off. I cant get the hub bolt off untill its on the stand. Because i cant crank on it hard enough when its on the bench lol its just gonna fall. And i dont need that.
Hi.
Working on my RX8. I was thinking about painting the black section of my rear bumper (07) red, like rest of car.
Four possibilities :
1) Leave it as it is, stock format.
2) Paint red only the side edges, where the exhaust pipes exit, leaving the center section black.
3) All red (matching car color) except only for the fake mesh grill at center of black section, giving impression of having a real mesh in there ( real mesh would probably be a muffler vent.
4) All of the black section (from exhaust pipe edges through all center area, all) painted to match car.
I think it might look better all in matching color.
Wish I knew Photoshop so I could try it virtually.
Just finished the 2 core aluminum radiator swap and took it for a drive and happy to say no leaks. The aluminum radiator left substantial gaps round all side / top and bottom. I solved this using foam pipe insulators ( 1.5 inches in diameter with the split glued ends. It sealed the radiator on all sides, Happy camper !!. Next is the starter. The original starter is a poor 1.4 or 1.8 KW slow starter.
I do not want to use aftermarket bumpers because the quality is inferior to stock plastic.
Seen aftermarket ones and those crack and fail miserable upon minor things like regular "parking" contact.
I would change all the black section of the stock bumper for a red colored plane part. Those fake vent meshes are only that, fake mesh on the stock bumpers.
Yes, will do something like this. This is the look I favor using stock bumper !
Changed the oil, replaced the trans and diff oils, bled the brakes, changed the spark plugs, straightened the oil cooler fins some more, adjusted the radiator foam, lubed the sway bar bushings.
I echo this question. That is the only aftermarket bumper I'd consider putting on my R3 right now, but I'd like to research it and see how it looks from the side.
Received and installed my afe short shifter today after wanting one for a long while. Next is cleaning up all the gunk around that area and fixing the broken ashtray lid...
Holy **** did the Exxon Valdez run aground in your engine bay?
Not sure what original cause was. It has been greasy under there since i bought it. Obviously and oil leak to start but it was literally everywhere. So it cant be pin pointed. Doing a full rebuild anyways 😄
I took a nice long drive down a river road and when i got home there was a couple packages waiting on me on the porch. I just received my cooling fan kit and a box from BHR with new Ignition System and catless midpipe.
So after the car cooled down enough to install the cooling kit, I got it installed and tested. So far the temp hasn't went above 193F.
Its was too hot outside to be under the car today, so i didn't get the other stuff that came today on it.
Then i dove it to the gas station and filled her up. I thought about just going back home but she begged me to go out for another cruise to check out temps while treating her how she likes it. It never broke 200F but before the install i was hitting 215-220.
Looks like Saturday is going to be somewhat nice out, so I might be able to do everything else i need to do. (midpipe, Ignition System, overflow bottle replacement, block airflow around radiator, screens for oil radiators and straighten the fins, screen for A/C and straighten fins) Soooo much to do and so little time
This is what someone did to my RX-8 three days ago!
I was entering a lane out of an alley while the traffic was at a stop. Crept up to the far left turn lane so I can exit the intersection while this guy in his Camry just decided to cut traffic to get on the same lane and slam on to me. The traffic was at a complete stop, I don't know why the ****'s there a need to go 20-30 miles an hour to get on a lane where he'll eventually be at a stop?
I've had some bumper to bumper in the past but this is the only major one this car has had the whole time I've owned the RX-8.
I would have driven it further home until I noticed the oil leak form a cracked oil cooler.

I know what to do. Drive the **** out of it. She's fine.
My compression is high-60's, low-70's and I still can run rings around M3's. It just doesn't seem to matter on the RENESIS except it's harder to start. 2KW starter is a must.
