What did you do with your RX8 today?

I painted my exhaust shrouds today. I used Rustoleum Trim & Bumper paint. I think they came out great. No before pics but they were getting pretty faded. I used it on my windshield wiper arms too, but didn't take any pics.

Made a bit of progress in the last bit on my car. The headlight issue turned out to be a missing fuse. The foglight still don't work and fuses are good, so i'm going to have to figure that one out, but not a critical issue now. Engine fuse (15A) was also blown so replaced that and now if I turn the car to ACC I can hear the fuel injectors working, but cluster still does the same thing. I'm either going to keep trying to figure out how to bypass the immobilizer or, as a last resort, i've made a deal with someone to buy a complete ECU, immobilizer, lock ignition cylinder with keys and door lock set for about $300 from an R3 part out which i'm leaning more towards because this immobilizer issue is quite annoying. Another issue is that the bleeder screws on the R3 calipers may be blocked, so i'll try a couple new ones I have and see if that fixes the issue because my brake lines are still bone dry (except clutch line bled just fine). Other than that most of the interior wiring is sorted out and I may be able to start reassembling the interior as soon as this weekend.

Got the call from the body shop this morning and they won't be able to work on my car. The owner (main person) has an mri scheduled for tomorrow and possibly undergo emergency back surgery. So I'm looking for another shop who can finish this before the wknd... No pressure lol

I finished my oil cooler screens. It was a pain straightening all those tiny fins. The screen material I had laying around from another project.

Eastwood sells black radiator paint that you could use to dress up the coolers after straightening the fins. You might think about giving them a spritz to really finish the look.
Where did you get that honeycomb screen? I have been thinking about screens for my car, but have never liked the look (or price) of Racing Beat's offering, and have never liked any of the stuff you can get at the hardware store.

It doesn't look quite that bad in person but not much you can do about it other than not drive.

I got it from here. It was left over from a modified PC case. Unfortunately it is steel so it will probably chip and start rusting eventually, but it cost me nothing. If/when I replace it with something aluminum I'll give the coolers a coat of black.

Threw some Eneos in the diff and tranny. Tranny looked like it was changed somewhat recently. The oil looked and smelled like the brand new bottle of lucas oil I have in the garage. The differential came out pitch black though, I don't even want to know the last time that was changed.
Afterwards I had to go take a 200 mile trip. Transmission is now smooth as butter. I can definitely notice the difference before and after. The diff didn't seem much different, though I think I need to start looking elsewhere for my traction issues while cornering. The first car I had was much more capable in this regard.

Replaced my master cylinder. It was still the factory OEM, replacing it was swift, took about 30 minutes altogether including taking pictures a flush. Before I was able to diagnose it; after I have bled the line of air, would take me at least 100-150 pedal pumps until I could build pressure on the clutch and about three to five gear shifts when I drove it until it lost pressure allowing me to not change at any gears. With the new master cylinder, it onlytook at least 30-40 pumps and I could immediately feel the pressure build up after about 15-20 pedal pumps. Took it for a drive and I may have to adjust the push rod later to get the right feel on the clutch.

Drove to DGRR yesterday (Cincinnati to Winston-Salem). Awesome drive on AA Highway (KY9) and through WV. Saw absolutely no RX-8s nor any S2000 (they are apparently going to be rallying in the same genera area as DGRR). See more at: https://www.rx8club.com/deals-gap-ro...-event-264997/

Installed some LED DRLs from blinglights.com and wired it to turn on with the ignition. Later on down the road, when I have the time, I have some relays that I'll use to wire it to the turn signal lights so they either blink with them, or turn off during.
The left one is barely visible under the Sun's glare:
Pulled in so it's a bit more visible:
With all the other lights on:

Whoa. For a second I thought this was the "What not to do to your car" thread...
Not my cup of tea, but that is a nice and clean-looking install.

Installed my aeromotive fuel line adapter. Spent about 3 weeks trying to "research" the installation. I never quite found anyone explaining exactly how to install the damn thing, and for good reason. It took a total of about 30 seconds, one end snaps in, the other end snaps in. That's it.
Now I just have to figure out where to route the sensor wiring.

Took my 04 I purchased in oct. to dealership for 3 recalls SOUTHERN LUXURY CARS never told me about...smh..(airbags, fuel leak at fuel pump rings). And yes, I have the hot start issue. Hoping and praying its just the starter. Also starts pretty slow when cold. But it did that on test drive. The test drive was so fun I overlooked it like an idiot. Other than that, car runs great. No misfires..Holds idle well..Oh yeah, I also ordered new 2k starter from amazon today..Pray for me guys and gals....

I buy base battery, and it dies about every 3 years.
If I remember to check it at 35 months and it's bad, I get a free on at Walmart next door so that works good enough.
Many battery companies test them in AZ to get that heat test on them.
Hot weather ruins them, and when winter comes it finds the bad ones.

Installed my R1 Premier slotted rotors and HPS pads. Looks great. I still breaking them in and haven't abused them enough to give them a good review but given my limited around town driving, they've been awesome.

Nice, I'm gonna need brakes all around soon and have been eyeing those.
