What did you do with your RX8 today?

Yea it's ICAR :D
I didn't time myself per say, but I did look at the countdown clock to give me an idea. I believe I'm around 1:58 and 1:57 with a passager.
Next time I'll setup a GoPro to get a more precise time reading!

Water Foul
Took it to the track to test the brake ducts I just installed and some suspension changes I made. Had the track to myself, except for one lonely Miata. Had a great time, until I broke something in the front brakes. I'll tear into it tonight to find out what went south. Thank goodness for AAA!

Rotary Runner Redux
iTrader: (3)
Following up on this a couple years later...
B&B "muffler" is loud. Has a nice, raspy rotary tone. It's too loud for some people, especially with an un-resonated midpipe. Since the video below, I've added a Racing Beat dual-resonated midpipe. No video of that, but it did lower the tone and drop the volume a bit (a bit too much).
The AL driveshaft is just fine. No problems, and I run at high RPMs all the time. You mention it wouldn't be as strong as the CF one, but does that really matter with 230 HP at the eccentric?

Trying to shake off the doldrums, the -8 has about 90% of the supercharger install and tune complete. Life got in the way; this build has been going on since Feb 2016.
The strut bar is part of the 10%, between those points marked with blue tape, the stock bar hits the intercooler shell. Rest of the percent is radiator work, fan ducting and reworking the intake for better cold-air ingestion.

1% evil, 99% hot gas.

Looking good, Striker! That will be some fun on the road and track. Got any numbers yet?
Add another percent or two to get rid of that flooded-cell battery and replace it with an AGM! No more corrosion from acid slosh or fumes. (And cover that positive terminal!)

Took it for a spin around a nearby park on one of the hottest days of the year so far.
Melted the tyres, smoked the brakes and boiled the petrol (causing a bastard of a Misfire which convinced me to cut the day short lest the engine follow). Was still bubbling when I drove it to the Maxol....
Still not sure what the **** caused that Misfire because it was drastic, but left no flashing engine light, or stored fault. There was so much pressure in the fuel tank it wouldn't fill at full rate.
Was one hot bloody day. Real car killer. Spent the entire thing driving on the temperature gauge between 98 and 102....
Tein Flex-Z suspension was ******* amazing. And glad the brakes were done.
2 trackdays I've done. Suspension was the limit on the first where an old shock collapsed under load (Surprise!, now you're going backwards). Now it's the cooling. Especially on 2nd-3rd gear track. Hmm, to alloy radiator or not...

Put in the BHR ignition on Saturday. Didn't take any photos under the hood yet. It was dark when I finished.
And I can already tell why they have a good reputation here. And yes, I installed a new set of OEM when I bought the car; latest revision and they are still potatoes. I should have gone with BHR in the beginning.

They're going to be the first thing I do to mine. But I'm considering going with the IGN-1A coil setup instead. A little pricier but seems to be the better option if I want to do boost and such in the future.

My last car was an S2000 and it was a common complaint for front toe to get out of spec and cause excessive wear on the front tires.

I went in twice and helped them.
It seems your front has great -1.7 camber with straight or slight tow in.
My rears kept inching up to the -2.2 camber you have since that's where it goes if the rear sag which they do.
So my fix was to dial down the rears to minimum of -1.65 that I could get both to, and it works better.
So approx -1.7 all around for balance cornering instead of more camber in rear which might be safest in slick conditions.

I don't think those settings drifted out of spec. I had to have a steering rack replaced last weekend and Auto Spec did an alignment afterwards. The car felt like absolute ***** for the last few days (aside from working steering). I brought it up to firestone because they were the only one's who could check it out on short notice.
I plan on bringing it back next week to get it checked and see if they are in fact drifting out of spec.
It's been said elsewhere, but talk to the guy doing your alignment. When I told the front desk guys what I wanted to do, they all just looked around at each other confused. A 30 second conversation with the guy doing the alignment went a long way in this case.
As far as why I had the other 6 alignments. I'd say half were because I was completely dissatisfied with what I got, and the other half were because I kept screwing with my suspension.

New Sparkplgs. New Oil Filter. Fresh fill of 15W40
Rock and roll.
Not too bad for 30k.... ash comes off cleanly under the finger. Engine's running at 142k from the factory. Starts fine. Runs fine. Smells like a refinery.
Next modification is an alloy radiator. Current one is clogged with *****.
It's not being built to a plan, just fucked with as **** breaks and stops doing what it's supposed to.

Had a shop install a set of backup sensors.
They work great, but as they installed them, they stripped the paint off with the masking tape! Turns out, the paint can start peeling really easily. At least the shop is nice about it, and the repair will be on their dime.
Time for another trip to a body shop... Dammit.

Ripped my back seats out after getting a nice strong whiff of gasoline all the way home. Found a giant puddle of it around the fuel pump ring. Glad there's a recall for it....except nobody has the parts. I'm probably going to end up going out of pocket and fixing it myself.
