What did you do with your RX8 today?

Played Dr.
Took the starter off and cleaned and greased it. I had a hot start problem and it fixed it temporarily. It starts like new and instantly even after a 1h 30m drive. I put new plugs in as well
Cleaned her first then went to work on the starter.

That sucks my friend. I have a 127,000 on my 2006 Shinka and it’s still going. I do maintain it very meticulously and do all the steps and dances you get told to do before and after driving lol.

Picked it up
Mazda replaced the seal
Cool
While at dealer talked to a salesman
The RX9 is coming
Not so fun part is that it will cost about 70K

That's a bomb to drop - the RX9 is coming [when]. Do tell the details and how this dealer has the ultimate in SCOOPS!

South Bay Mazda in Torrance CA
The guy I talked to was not a young kid but an older management staff
I told him I was there for my RX8's recall repair and yold him my next new vehicle will be a RX7
His reply was "Not tbe RX7 The RX9 "
He told me it looks like a Maseratti and then he told me about the price , not cheap
Let's hope its going to happen !

Note that Mazda's naming scheme means that RX-9 will be a different type of car from RX-8 and RX-7 then. Sounds like they are going for a super car then.

Just got the CorsoMotion(who bought exLED) vanity mirror LEDs in the mailbox today.
Put them in, and they are great. The LED ones I have used before is way to bright. CorsoMotion claimed that theirs were set dimmer, and so I gave them a shot. Very pleased with the healthy amount of light and even spread that comes out of the bulbs.
So if you want good vanity LEDs that won't burn your retina out, I'd recommend CorsoMotion ones. exLED used to be pretty great from what I have heard, but suffered from a lot of issues with shipping and customer service. CorsoMotion has pretty great customer service, however. Very good experience.
CorsoMotion(left) vs. halogen(right)
CorsoMotion(left) vs. single chip LED bulb I have purchased from somewhere else before(right)

I hear you
I wanted it not chromed but these guys only make the part in chrome
I would had powder coated it but chrome parts can not be powder coated without expensive de chroming
After looking at the design, I can see I can fab one out of L brackets and 2 bars
When time comes I will make o e and powder coat it

Got to drive my 8 a bit today after sending my grandparents off.
God, how I have missed driving it. Much better than the rental BMW X3 I had to deal with for a couple of days. The bloody thing is full of lag. You push the gas, say Mississippi a couple of times, and it smacks your skull into the seat. The guy at the car rental place was like, "Yeah, I just prefer naturally aspirated engines, man." I get him now.
I still prefer my smooth and "torqueless" RX-8, thank you. That's a small displacement engine done right.

I6 would have been much better, I agree. Mazda said that the R2 has about the same amount of torque fluctuation as I6. I4 just has that coarseness associated with it.
In terms of fuel economy, turbos are good enough to fool EPA ratings, but the real life fuel economy gain is very low. Drive a turbo hard and watch the fuel economy go down the drain, as the engines have to run richer at that point to cool down the turbo.

1. Had dealer complete FUEL TANK LEAK recall
2. Asked dealer to complete PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR recall. Dealer ordered part
3. Replaced battery with new Bosch 35-640B. I've always loved Bosch products

my car is in the shop, waiting for the results. Car has been puffing white smoke and struggling, High coolant pressure but I just had the radiator replaced. Hope it's not the coolant seal that's gone....
