What did you do with your RX8 today?

I washed her, waxed, cleaned the interior, windows, back to black the rear plastic under the bumper, glossy shined the tires and cleaned the horrible Mazda 6 wheels I'm rolling with. Anyways my baby is all cleaned up!
Cheers!

I took her on some amazing cliff side roads through Palos Verdes for a little spirited driving . If anyone lives in the area they should definitely drive along Portuguese Bend on Palos Verdes Dr. E and Palos Verdes Dr. S.
If you're lowered take it slow in the beginning. There are two really steep drops. On Palos Verdes Dr. S before you turn onto E.

That's the only time it's ever been towed, the last time I drove it was a day after it's anniversary(July 29th). I had an oil leak while I was driving on the freeway, heard the metal shavings sounds. It was pretty obvious that it was the end and it ran it's last mile, it officially clocked out at 167,305 miles in it's Original Factory Engine. I don't know if that's considered to be a catastrophic failure?

Tell me how you like your new shifter. I love mine, but as most other owners, it definitely adds some extra noise. Not sure why. Different materials???
So i finally gave in and bought a AFE SS. Put it in this morning and needless to say, I'm quite happy with it.
OEM:
AFE SS:
Also last week i ended up replacing my rotors and pads.
I went with Racing Brake 1-Piece Open Slot Rotors and Hawk Performance Ceramic Brake Pads all around.
I'm happy with both of these as well.

I love it - And it's weird because I never disliked the OEM shifter, but now i don't think i could ever go back to it for long. But my OEM shifter has always had this clunk/notch feel when going from first straight back into second gear regardless of speed. As if something kept catching the shifter at around the half way point. I never knew if that was something that was "normal" or if mine just had some issues. I also never really looked into it, never really cared all that much to know. But my "solution" was to go from first, into neutral in the middle between third and fourth, then into second. Kind of making a triangle instead of a straight line gear change (> instead of |) for lack of a better explanation. So I finally decided to try the AFE SS hoping it would fix the issue i was having and it did. I don't know if that's just coincidence that it worked for me or if it's done the same for others on here. But it's been great. It really gives you an extra sense of confidence by how it locks into each gear - how each shift itself feels/moves. The biggest thing i wasn't expecting from the AFE SS is how close fifth and sixth gear are to third and fourth. After i did the install when I was testing out each gear I was going from fourth to fifth and I hesitated for a second once i shifted into fifth thinking i went back into third. The gap between third and fifth is so much closer than the gap from first to third...especially compared to OEM. As far as the noise goes, I did notice it and I remember reading about it happening in the past, so I kind of expected it. I'm not sure why its louder, but overall it's not an unpleasant noise. Doesn't really bother me. Plus I usually have my windows down so I don't really hear it unless its raining. But I do really like the shifter. I know it's been said before, but I'll say it again - it really should be the first mod anyone does.

I really want one of those BHR midpipes. But I think I'm done buying things for my 8 this season. Between tires (both for my 8 and my truck), brake pads, rotors, stainless steel lines, AFE SS, and soon to be all new fluids...my already small projects/toys money line is starting to run low. A part of me wants to just bite the bullet and buy all the mods i want to do to my 8 all at once, which really aren't that many, and be "done" with it. But then a part of me knows i'll never really be done with it and should really start saving for "better" investments like a house. For now I think I have to stick with a couple mods a season.

battery to strut, strut to frame ( in the pic above you can see the oem ground distributor on the frame at the top left of the pic, that is what i mean by "frame", for strut, use one of the the strut bolts)
battery to alternator, alternator to throttlebody (alternator adjustment bolt, or if you dont want to muck with that, one of the bolts holding the alternator case on, then to a bolt on the throttlebody)

Legend In My Own Mind
I took an hour today to mod my rear bumper. Cut out the neato fake mesh nonsense for a little real mesh action. Now my pretty little muff...ler peeks out the back like my 8 is wearing the shortest prom dress ever.
