30K Service - Handled it Myself

Today I swapped out the fluid on the transmission (used Ford Motorcraft), differential (used Redline), and braking system (used ATE), changed the in-cabin air filter (Mazda), and did new oil (Castrol GTX 5W20) and filter (Mazda).

I considered doing the cooling system too, but screw it. I'm tired and I'm out of beer.

Went home from work last night, forgot to turn the auxillary lights off. Went back to it this morning and the battery is dead. Brought the battery (had it for 19 months) to COSTCO and got a replacement free of charge. Got the car working again but a P0506 code is up. Now I have to figure out what that code is.

Sigh. I take it you have a garage. Or at least a parking spot just feet from your house, within tool carrying distance.

Took advantage of my day off and installed my mazdaspeed front bumper, sideskirts, and rear diffuser. Now I need to figure out how the front license plate is going on since I live in Texas..

You might have some corrosion on the connectors to the lamps. Also, the plastic lens on my 8 tend to become dull and frosty over time. I easily cured that problem with ordinary car polish - they look like new.

Got to drive her home from the mechanic today. Syncros in the tranny died. No 1st, 3rd or 5th gear. Thankfully I bought that aftermarket warranty (thanks Lexus!).
Saved my bacon from a $2900 bill!

Finally reassembled it, drove it, broke a nipple on my radiator so now i need a new one. Any suggestions on a aluminum radiator for under $400?

Are those R3 rims on an S1? Very nice.

Today I had a viper 5706v remote start + alarm installed. Cost about 600 bucks taxes in, not bad considering the smart key fob was 500 from Mazda.

Also watched the tech installing it turn my car on and off about 4 times before i could run over and explain that he should stop. Guess the good thing is it started every time

Installed BHR coils, Epitroch SOHN, and a 350ml oil catch can then warmed her up and did a burn out.

Straightened ALL the fins on the little drivers side radiator. Took me about 20 minutes with two small flat head screw drivers.

I want to clean the throttle body but i'm afraid of breaking something lol. Is there a thread on how to remove the throttle body?

With a cool engine (Do not do while engine is hot!!)
Disconnect battery.
Remove intake (unplug MAF/VFAD, Remove air box, according tube)
Unplug Throttle body
Remove 2 coolant hoses connected to throttle body
Unbolt throttle body (4 bolts)

Easy.

back window got smashed.. dumb luck basically

turns out there is about 1200 NZD of rust to repair before the rear window can go back in.

but as I took her around for quotes some dipshit suggested I take my body kit off and slam her..

that came from some dude with a auto Honda.
