What did you do with your RX8 today?

Better view. Water temp guage is 5 degree cooler than what I read through the OBD-II port with DashCommand, more than likely due to where the sensor is mounted. So temp seems accurate unlike their first generation sendors.

Water Foul
I'm still playing the kazoo as I go down the road due to an exhaust leak at the rear joint. I have some hardware on order that should solve that.

Replaced my 7 year old set of Prosport Gauges with the new Evo line. Installation was a breeze since I was just replacing the gauges and the senders.
Decided to ditch the oil pressure guage for a volt gauage because (1) the electric oil pressure is gargage, I replaced it three times, and (2) I suffered two dead batteries, although alternator is fine, since I owned the car so want to keep an eye on the voltage.
The other two are oil temp and water temp. Oil temp sensor isn't hooked up yet, waiting until next oil change to swap out the senders as the old doesn't work with the new guages (reads way too high).

There should be a thread for "What embarrassing thing did you do with your RX8 today". Yesterday I was headed home from work. Got to a red light and was the first car in line. Car stalls. Tried to start and tripped the breaker. I get out to open the trunk and reset the breaker and the plain clothes detective directly behind me leans out his window and asks what I'm doing. I gave a quick explanation as I'm reaching for the breaker and somehow I break the lever off. He lights up his red and blues for traffic. Another plain clothes lady detective just happens to be in the parking lot next to us. She lights up her red and blues. Traffic is piling up at this point. They give me a push across the street where I'm able to put the breaker back together and get going. It was an oddball combination of conditions that haven't happnd before. First time tripping the breaker, only stall when I mess up shifting and 2 nice detectives to witness the whole thing and give me a push

Pioneer AppRadio 4 about $450 on Amazon US. I think the screen is 6.2 capacitive touch screen.
It's the Pioneer AppRadio 4. It's probably the less expensive way to get Apple Carplay. I really like it alot. You can run a iphone in either Apple Carplay mode (what i run it as most of the time) or Pioneer's own AppRadio mode. Both lets you run a wide variety of apps including Navigation and music streaming apps. Running it Pioneer's app mode lets you run DashCommand and Waze though but I found switching between apps to be clunky to the point of dangerous while driving. Apple Carplay is safer experience.
Note the radio does not have a DVD/CD players. It is completely Smartphone dependent. In fact without a smartphone all it can do is play the am/fm radio lol. I absolute love having Spotify in the car. It'll also play back almost any video format on a USB stick.
Andriod users should check out the new Andriod Auto headunits hitting the stores now.

The headunit will still be standard double din so I don't see why it would be a problem.

These look even better in person. The improvement in ride quality is really surprising (compared to stock wheels). Should have done this sooner! Got to love the RPF1.

I never had a problem with oil pressure/temp or level since I've owned the 8 since 2006 however I suffered 2 dead batteries so decided I'd rather keep an eye on the voltage level of the battery instead.
Really the kit was just a face lift for the interior to go along with the aftermarket radio I finally added last month. It took almost no work on my end to replace the gauges and the cost was relatively cheap. It was a quick swap out and even managed to make the wiring a lot neater internally since I'm more capable with a soldering iron now, I laughed at the mess of wires I made 8 years ago.

Pulled po2259 code today?.Reached behind the intake wiggled the air pump solenoid(the one on top) and took the hose from the check valve blew through it with ignition off and with ignition on,worked the butterfly valves on the lower intake which seemed nicely free moving and started the 8 up and the CEL light went out?.Also found the hose from the check valve to the air pump solenoid was almost off the tit.Cleaned it off and reinstalled it.
Gonna see if i can get through emissions before and if the light comes back on.If i pass i have another two years to **** with it.The air pump does not effect the performance of the vehiccle but unfortunetly a new law was passed Janiary of 2015 that all cars 8 to 11 years old will now fail emissions in colorado if any cel pops up even if it's non essencial? who new?.

Getting ready for the season ... put the front coilovers on and lowered it, put on my bazeria's, cleaned up the front by replaced a few missing screws and bolts..sticking with the stock front bumper this season. Im also looking to get a more aggresive front lip. Other than that i have a few adjustments to make to get it sitting right and id like to get the car wrapped a different color but so far so good ...

Recently the car pulled left then right during heavy braking from highway speed. I haven't been able to duplicate it on long straight empty roads since then but decided to pull the brake pads and check. Pads are Hawk HPS and oem rotors. Nothing out of the ordinary, plenty of pad life and even wear. At the very least gave me a chance to re-grease the contact areas which were in desperate need of it. Brakes a lot quieter now.

You gonna eat that?

Are they still pulling?
Possibly the rubber brake lines need to be replaced, be a good time to replace the brake fluid.

Oil light came on yesterday after revving it pretty high (for an automatic). Completely freaked me out. Pulled over fairly immediately (30 seconds later), and pulled out the manual.
It said a "low oil level" event was the likely culprit. It said to keep RPMs low until you can get more in the engine. I checked, and sure enough it was a few millimeters above the low line. So I drove it home and topped it off. Oh, these silly rotaries. Almost gave me a heart attack!
Gonna change the stock air filter next.
