What do you guys think?

What kind of car do you guys think I should buy for around $6000 after I sell the
8? I want to buy a car that I can still mod.

a 97-99 eclipse or talon all wheel drive. With a stiffer rear sway bar it will plow less but never be an 8. For $6000 u can find one with an upgraded turbo like an evo3 16g and make 300-350 hp like an evo or bolt on a cheap Holset turbo used by Dodge diesel pickups and make 400+ hp. Very fun and cheap cars to mod. Ive modded 2 90-94s that never saw the back of a Mustang for long.

That's what I was thinkin...my car before the 8 was an eclipse, but it was a automatic gs. I found a sweet 95 GSX in real good condition for $6000. What do you mean plow less?

Finding one for $6,000 might be hard. I suggest a Mustang not because I am a big fan of them. But you can find V-8 Mustangs for 6g and there is a huge aftermarket for that car.

+1 on the old miata. Go for a 2nd gen. less power and practicality than the 8, obviously, but just as much fun. And 35+ mpg!!!

This depends on how much money you want to spend when modding. For 6k, you could pick up an 99-01 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS. Then do a version 8 STI swap, it's pricey though, like 10-12k, but you would have a turbocharged, AWD boxer engine, and a transmission that can hold 700 wtq, basically have an STi but only pay insurance for a Naturally aspirated Impreza. And it weighs about 2800 lbs. and gets like 22-24 mpg. But like I said it depends on how much you want to spend modding.

Sell your 8 first, then figure out what you can buy. in my area the ask price for my car has dropped by 28% in the last 4 months. Very few people want a 15 mpg 2 seater in this economy.

Another vote for the Miata - lots of parts for modding, a lot of similarities with the 8, and a huge community backing it up. I suppose it's like the Mustang that Expo has suggested, only handling over power.

Lol, that is the car I used to have. I had a 97 Eclipse GSX and loved that car. Put a boost controller, 16 G turbo(Buschur Racing), upgraded the shocks and springs and that car ran like a champ. All the mods cost me about 3 grand if I remember correct. I still think old 2G DSM cars have a timeless look to them, similar to the Rx-8(call me crazy!).
