personally I like both RX8 and the FX35, its a tough choice between them even though there different classes both offer aggressive looks and are in my price range of 20-30K...and known to be reliable cars
Although the FX is an SUV its based on a car-platform called the M-class...so these are somewhat compareable..
I guess the deal breaker is the RX is probably loads more fun than an FX

It's actually a very nice car, it uses the same engine as the 350Z, G35, and the Altima.
Now, there's going to be a bunch of RX-8 fanboiz coming in saying "Blah blah the VQ35 sucks" so don't be discouraged by them.
It has very nice power for its price and the exhaust note will also sound just like a G35/350Z. What I love most about the FX35 is that the aftermarket availability for the drive train is huge. I also love the suspension on the FX35's, they're insanely rigid, they grab the corners really hard and it's not at all a harsh ride when cruising.

What? Your buddy is in the military, and he preferred that FWD turd bucket to the FX? Wow. I've driven both. The Murano is a nothing but neutered blob with wheels. Completely dead in comparison to the FX35. What part about the Murano (just puked in my mouth) did he like more?

Actually, his gripe is usable passenger and cargo space.
His FX is sweet too, black paint
He's a tall/large guy and hauls sniper rifles, gear & ammo around the installation.
The Murano was AWD and equipped with a 3.5L V6, but like you, I like the more aggressive looks, sounds and driveability of the FX35.
He's also got 3 kids, so I didn't flame him too badly...

That said, maybe the FX35 isnt right vehicle in his case, but in that class of SUV, the Murano *burp... here it comes again burp* is not exactly ideal either. I just would never buy a Mur...burp... ano. Gotta go. Burp.

I like the FX35. Wanted to get one. But wifey not keen on the price and storage space.
Comparing rx-8 to a fx35 way out of tangent. RX-8 vs Z... CX-7 vs FX35. That should make more sense.

RX8 HA HA
I owned one, but traded it in for my new BMW...It's a good car! Good enough power for an SUV. Made numerous trips to Babies R us in it and was able to always fit everything in. It does have a lot of features though. I wouldn't wast my time with the FX45 though..

Ahhh... okay. That does explain it. The FX is short on the "utility" side of the equation. It doesn't have much cargo room, and to stuff three kids in that back seat wouldn't be too comfortable for them.

I just shat myself
I always had a fondness for the FX35. If I had to get an SUV it'd be either the FX35 or a CX-7. But if I had a bunch of money I'd get the BMW X6, it's glorious!
But unless I had a trailer to pull or lived in the woods I'd never get an SUV. Driving small, nimble cars is easier, cheaper, and just plain more fun.

^^ Yep, too heavy and tall.
I'd go for a 3-series wagon or A4 wagon instead. Or a good cheaper option would be MS3, even with FWD I'd still rather drive that than a "sporty" SUV.
