what does it take?
i have a 05 and im pretty sure i don't have the R flash. what does it take? really to get the flash done. ive tried just about everything and they just won't do it. im so fed up with Mazda i just can't take it anymore. i took my car in the other day for my breaks and they said they can't reproduce the sound. and the whole time in my head im just thinking how did the tech use the breaks? did he use the e brake to stop? errrrrrr....!!!! soo what can i do to get the flash. or do i even need it? thanks for the help

If your car needs the heat recall done they will do the R flash, do a search and you will find build dates. I am also assuming you are complaining about a squeaking during braking? If so try braking a little more aggresively, the materials the brakes are made of will cause some squealing under light braking.

I got the R flash a couple of weeks ago. To me, there is virtually no difference in the driveability of the car. If I wasn't told that it was done, I'd never know it. In life, there are plenty of things to worry about, the R flash is not one of them. Enjoy your car.

thanks for the reply but i just makes me mad how this company goes about fixing problems. the other day i called to see what mods would void warrenty and so forth. the service manager said anything that is put on will void that part warrenty and anything else that should happen in the future of the vehical will be covered "unless" it is proven that the part caused the issue. when i had my oil change i wanted to make sure again so i ask the service lady. now her reply was you "can not" do anything to the vehical or warrenty is void. i questioned her about mazdaspeed parts and so forth and still void. at this point bah i don't even know. I guess its just alot different coming from my vw service center. anyways just need to vent. thanks again

If you can reproduce the brake squeal at will you should insist that the service tech ride along with you so you can demonstrate the noise.
As far as asking them about mods -- think of it this way -- they will never get in trouble by telling you "no". The first answer you got sounds more reasonable. But hey, they're both verbal comments -- i.e. not worth the paper they're written on.
