What exactly is flooding? I was thinking about buying a RX8 but kept hearing all this stuff about flooding? If i buy the car will i have any problems starting it? Say im in a rush and i have to go do i have to "warm it up" I live in Florida if that helps at all...

you live in florida and are afraid of flooding.
I have never had a problem with it and i havnt heard any new posts for what seems like months i think that problem is gone unless you love to tunr ur car on then off then on then off then on. thats the only scenario i see it hapening by. and if by a chance the engine hasnt warmed up by the time u want to turn it off rev it to 3k for 10 secs then turn the engine off when its still revving.

Flooding occurs when oil and of gas remains in the engine and fouls the plugs.
I think thats right.

When you start the car and the engine is 'cold' (e.g. is at ambient temperature, hasn't been run recently) the engine computer adds a little extra fuel to make it run 'rich' until the engine warms up. If you shut it off/stall it before it warms up, the plugs could get saturated with fuel and not spark properly, resulting in the engine refusing to start.

That said... the most recent software upgrade for the engine computer (the 'M' flash) generally solves this problem, and provides a method to recover from it (see the owner's manual for 'flooded start' procedure). To be safe, however, don't start the car when cold, move it out of the garage to wash it, and shut it off. If you HAVE to do this, then rev it to 3000 RPM and switch it off, and let it 'spin down' to flush unburned fuel residue out of the chambers. Otherwise, once the engine is reasonably 'warm' you can make short trips with no worries. You should never need to think about it once you've driven a couple of blocks after a cold start.
