A bit off topic but..... I recognized your name immediately but thought it would be too geeky to say anything. Oh well. Now that the floodgates are open, I'll add to the winks and nods between those knowledgable in physics.

If you REALLY want to draw some blank stares, approach a stranger and talk some physics! Your experience with rotary owners will seem tame in comparison.

Not so, any more; too many of 'em out there.

Most of the guys I know on Harleys don't wave at some poseur on a piece of butt jewelry on his weekly run to the pub down the road. In fact, I'm more inclined to give the nod to somebody on a Gold Wing a thousand miles from home than I am one of the BJ riders.
