1) clutchless paddle shift option for manual 6 speed.
2) Standard din size hifi components (The arty ones look nice, but I hate being locked in and limited.
3) Factory warranted power upgrade.
4) Rear uderbody redesigned to fit compact spare tyre in boot.
Perhaps a limited edition with better everything (which will possibly come before a new model).

1) Oil Dipstick that is longer, so you don't have to reach so far down to check the oil.
2) Oil filler cap integrated with the vanity cover somehow... maybe the Mazda symbol lines up with the fill cap. The symbol would flip up, and the fill cap could be removed. The oil cap would need to be a little different, it would need a raised bar, or handle on the top, otherwise the area that the flip up symbol has isn't large enough to get fingers in to twist the existing oil cap off.
3) Shelf/carrier on the fule door to put fule cap, like the one on the FD. Keep the little cord, but add the shelf
4) redesign the rear license mounts. I know of many owners that have stripped them off.
5) Analog speed. (mentioned before)
6) Standard DIN style radio opening (I don't mind the integrated look, but it can be done with a DIN style opening for aftermarket units.
7) color matched or dedesigned vents after the front wheel
8) relocated front cup holders
9) singe touch close power windows and moonroof
10) Actual temperature numbers on the temp gauge, actual oil press numbers on the oil gauge, and a REAL oil pressure gauge.
11) Added gauges Voltmeter, Oil Temp, Air Fuel mixture

I love the car but the two things that annoy me are the oil situation and the traction control/DSC button.
They need to find a way to keep the oil up without the constant and messy high-maintenence hands-on routine. Checking the oil everytime you buy gas is just a little too yester-tech (great trivia question: when was the last everyday driver manufactured that required that?). It's this great car's weakest point. In the dead of winter it's going to be just too much fun. And making the dipstick and fillercap as difficult to get at as possible has got to be some kind of bad joke.
Here's an idea: for '05 they should put the filler cap on the bottom of the car so you have to flip the whole car over to add oil.
Then there's the DSC... Everyone knows it hurts fuel mileage. It's a great and potentially lifesaving feature(every car should have it), but it should be an opt-in, not an opt-out. Or at least I should be able to choose which way I want it. And having to hold the button down for 5 seconds is frankly a little insulting. Adult sports cars don't need to be "child-safed". When it's dry out I turn 'em off. It's a pain.
How about for '05 they make the ignition key out of foam rubber so I don't accidently poke my eye out?
