Thanks, that is a very good pointer. A good HEPA filter is an important device for filtering out microscopic allergens for those with allergies. They actually improve in quality with use as the tiny pores become clogged but you need to change them as needed. This will vary greatly with air quality but after a while you will be able to tell when to change them. The air volume coming in to the cockpit will drop slowly and then at some point you will realize that the air volume has dropped markedly.

I used to change mine every three months and the old filter would look EXACTLY like the one pictured at the bottom of the link I provided - YUCK!

I'd find dead bugs, leaves and other tiny pieces of trash stuck in the filter. YUCK x 2!

I used to do this to my ol' Celica. Here's a link to how it's done on the Celica and I assume it'll be very similar on the 8:

Thanks OB. I have to try that.

Ordered mine from Trussville this morning -- thanks for the heads-up.

My dealer is still claiming that they can't order this stuff yet. Told him not to bother -- I already ordered from another dealer. Told him he better get his Parts Manager in the game and figure out what their problem is.

my dealer came relatively close to matching the Trusville prices. The one thing he pointed out that I didn't really think of was the following:

When you purchase accessories with your new Mazda, the 4yr/50,000mi vehicle warranty on the vehicle is transferred to those accessories. When you purchase accessories--even from a Mazda dealer and it is not with your vehicle purchase, the warranty is only 12 months.

Thats the only thing you might want to think about. My dealer's price came out to about $150 higher than Trusville's price (for $1544 retail in accessories). I figured the benefit of customer - dealer relationship as well as the added warranty was worth the little extra.

That doesn't sound right - that the accessories are covered under the 4yrs/50,000 mi warranty. I SERIOUSLY doubt that things like car mask (bra), car cover, filter, valve stem covers, etc. are covered for 4 yrs. 4 yr warranty covers engine, drivetrain, etc, not add-on accessories. I wouldn't doubt if they are covered by a 12 month warranty though.

Can ibfubar2000 or budaman verify this? Especially you ibfubar2000 since you work in the warranty dept.

That info is correct. If the accessories are added at the time of purchase, they will be covered for the full 4yr/50,000 mile warranty. If bought after the fact, just 12 months. This includes all Mazda accessories.

Thanks. Learning something new everyday. It's great to have all this informational resources on this forum.

Now I would have to decide - would all these accessories be worth paying 20% more (as compared to Trussville) to have that added warranty.

EDITED:
Seeing that 75% of all their accessories are now backordered, maybe it would be worth getting them installed by my own dealer at the time of purchase.

does that mean that they have to be dealer installed though? or does it mean that as long as they are on the invoice with the actual vehicle (installed or not) they get the 4 year. I really want to install myself to learn about the car and to avoid the exorbitant labor fees.

With all due respect

I think this warranty thing is a scam. That's my p[ersonal opinion.
Since when did we worry about warranties on things like "fender strakes" or "door sill plates" or "Exhaust Finishers" or, what about Valve Stem Caps. Come on now, these things don't warrant a warranty in the first place. they are either right when you buy them or they aren't.
On the other hand, i would order something like an MP3 Player whicch might take advantage of the full warranty but not trim stuff.

Also,I understandf from trussville that if you call them and they are out of stock, they can get stuff really quickly. call them and ask if they are out of stock. Just a suggestion.

Those exorbitant labor fees are what makes it possible to include all their work under warranty, and to train them so they aren't experimenting on your vehicle to learn more about it. Kinda tough to accept a warranty claim against your fender strake falling off when nobody from Mazda can confirm that you didn't just stick it on there with bubble gum.

'Course I'm being nice and assuming they actually are training and not making a huge profit margin on this. But I'm not paranoid today.

Exactly. That's what I was talking about. I would never expect those types of items to have a 4 yr. warranty, and then expect the dealer to replace them if they chipped, flake, or tarnished because of normal wear. I doubt they would either. You're correct - the are either right in the first place or their not.

Now something like the MP3, I understand how it could be under the 4 yr warranty, and if I bought it through the dealer and had them do it, I would EXPECT them to warranted it for 4 yrs, just like the factory stocked stereo.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to do that. Some of the items say they are "backordered - do not order" but they may take my order regardless and ship when the parts come in. I wouldn't mind waiting.
