I usually drive my car like once a week so I always give it a little time to warm up. I wait till I hear "a motor sounding thing" turn off before I leave the garage. Judging by Brettus' response, I guess that would be the air pump???

We have to remember that temp readings on the dash are for coolant not oil.
Also Your Tranny and Diff take a lot longer to warm up (depending on outside temp)..imo usually 15 minutes at least until GB and Diff are getting close to normal operating temps.

Hey Ash,
typically the oil is above 150 in less then 5 minutes.
I have Water Temp, Oil Pressure, and Oil temp gauges.

True that the transmission oil does take longer so I take it easy for the first 10 minutes or so

I give it 30 seconds before taking off. Just to make sure all the internals are lubed.

Anyone else's idle fluctuate slightly when it first starts? Then settles at 1500 for a short period before starting to decrease as it warms up? Mine revs high at start, drops to 1500, back up to 2000. Falls rapidly back to 1500. Then up to 2000, back to 1500 and then falls steadily.
