What the horn sounds like

The "first problem with my car" thread inspired me to write this. My buddy is a import car freak, like me, and owns a RSX-S. He knows Ford owns a controlling interest in Mazda and as I was honking the horn one day and he insisted it sounded like a Ford horn. I said he was full of sh*t, but it does sound much deeper than a typical Japanese horn. Hmmmmmm. I noticed the window sticker said 2% of the parts on the RX-8 aren't Japanese. Interesting. Now the horns are breaking in some peoples cars. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. No, I really wouldn't care if the horn was Ford made, but I still wonder why they chose a deeper tone than a typical import.

Wonder if the Rx-8 will suddenly start sprouting FIAMM or Hella airhorns like many Miatae have...

The stock Miata horn was a worthless meeper..

FWIW, the G-35 also has a much richer, deeper tone than the typical Japanese meeper. Not quite American-sounding, but definitely more robust then the meepers...

Mine will have FIAMM horns. Loud and piercing enough to startle drowsy skippers of three-ton SUVs.

And yes, my miata also has airhorns. :D

Just mount 'em mouth-down... and only mouth-down. They get crudded up quickly otherwise

yeah now that i think of it, I knew that horn was familiar to me from somewhere. Oh yeah, the ford windstar!!! I don't mind it at all though, its a nice loud horn. It gets the job done imo.

I hate to say it, but definately FORD horn. I beeped my alarm at work, a split second before a ford truck owner did the same thing. It was just a coincidence, but it sounded like one of us beeped twice. Very similar sound.

If you had to choose 2% of the parts of your car to be made by Ford, aren't you glad the horn makes up that portion?

Actually i'm glad they used a ford horn, because thats about the only thing that ford does right!! Usually japanese horns sound like an extremely annoying squealing noise.

ima just get a horn that plays la cucaracha every time..

ok im really not going to do that, and i dont really care as long as the horn works. Ford, Honda, hell gimmie a kia horn if it makes a loud sound im happy! the more stupier and annoying it is.. the better a job it will do
