Is this a garden or a sailboat tiller? I have a garden tiller that would fit in the trunk, but I'd never do it. That's what the Subaru is for.

He's got this man-made pond with several hundred catfish in it. Water has been leaking out of it ever since he burned away some cat-tails along the edges. So he's mixing in this stuff that turns to slime when mixed with water, effectively resealing the pond.

Funny thing is that he has a Ford pickup but wanted to go for a joy ride and to see if I could fix the stereo which had stopped playing through the speakers. That ****'s broke, blown fuse maybe.

When all is said and done he's trying to make himself potentially self sustainable with his 7 acres in case everything goes to ****. A wind generator is going up this summer. I suppose his 8 could make a nice guest bedroom for two.

the thing i have noticed in our cars, if you shift too fast the synchros scream at you in the form of sounding like starbucks coffee grinder.....still goes in gear, just not without protesting to you to stop....
i would only do it on the track....every once in a blue moon, and if your going to be doing this, get the synchro saver from fluid cuz i bet you are yanking the hell out of that shifter.
The RX-8 requires grace and skill to drive right, you cant just bang it like your highschool girlfriend, you slam this, ***** gonna break.

I feel sorry for the next owner of the stepdad's car.
Unless drag racing, what's the point of abusing the transmission like that? So he can get to the traffic light 0.2 seconds quicker and wait 0.2 seconds longer?

I did tell him that it seems rather hard on the tranny, but he replied that that's why he bought the extended warranty.

This is his second silver 8, and perhaps the curse is alive. The previous car killed a deer, buzzard, turkey and a barbed wire fence. One of the dump trucks that come through had spilled gravel onto the street near the said fence. It reminds me of that movie Final Destination, the world is out to get him and that car.

Warranties don't cover abuse. Flat shifting is abuse. He may be in for a big surprise when he gets the bill for a new transmission.

If he is, what's the point in a car that does 0-60 in 6 seconds? Don't beat on a precision instrument...
How to perform a revmatch on upshift? It seems the rpm are dropping and there's nothing the driver can do to make the rpm drop faster to engage the next gear?

I agree that is plenty fast enough, but I guess some people want to squeeze out more at the expense of mechanical life? Like all those turbo people.

Dominion's post is hands down the funniest **** I've read in awhile... even better than the Confessions thread!

But seriously, I don't even powershift my old 98 civic, imagine the rx-8. Good luck with his (crappy aisin) tranny and clutch
