whoa whoa whoa . . . where does beer fit in?
---------------------
The proper question before you start worrying about what mods to get is why do you want to mod your car?
Cosmetic? You feel the 8 needs more power or you want more power?
Basically, do you want to take your 8 to the car show, drag strip, or autocross events?
You'll be able to figure out how to get there if you decide where you're going first. Other wise you'll end up with a mix of cosmetic, power, and handling mods, some that contradict each other...
For example, if a mod is lighter than the stock part and you're thinking "oh, i'm saving weight" but then later add 90lbs of subwoofers in the trunk, was the first mod worth it considering you just undid all the weight savings?
I'm rambling.

I be like YUUUPPP!!!
lol jason... typical omaha and the mexi-tail lights. its an epidemic here. but seriously man. the car is just amazing in itself. we all bought our 8's for a reason..... we all fell in love with it at first sight. keep it that way. ONLY mods i am going to do this summer is powdercoating, tint, shocks, and maybe some new brake pads

The AFE short shifter is by far the best mod I've done to my car. I highly recommend it.
Otherwise maybe some factory/MS aero parts make it look a lot better IMHO.
Lowering springs definitely compliment the whole look of the car.
Sticky tires will be the single most effective upgrade in handling.
Doing maintenance should be first on your list if any is needed.
As for more power Mazda already squeezed out as much as they could while still meeting emissions standards. For others and myself a cat delete is stupid loud for a DD. Going FI is really your best option but with that said engine management is something you must not skimp out on and should fork out the cash to get it tuned correctly.
I'd love to make my 8 FI but I can't justify spending all that money with the potential of blowing the engine while i still have payments to make for the next couple years.
Going FI is not cheap and no aspect should be hacked together or "just good enough". Do it once, do it right, save money.
