What should I get?

I've been doing a lot of track days with my Mazdaspeed 6 and I am thinking I need to get into a proper sports car. I am considering the RX8, but I have a few questions:

Is it possible to fit a set of tires in the RX8 so that I don't need to get a trailer and tow vehicle? I currently have a set of RX8 18" rims with 235/40 NT01's which fit nicely in my trunk.

What year model and trim package should i be looking for?

Aside from track pads and new brake fluid, are there other mods I should do before I hit the track?

Are there any mods that I should be looking out for when I am shopping (mods that are not obvious)?

Thanks for any advice you guys have. I'm sure I'm not the first to ask these questions, but I had no luck with searching the forums.

Yes, You can fit 4 wheels/tires in your car. I have fit 4, 275/35/18's in the back, but they are too wide to fit in the trunk. Anything less than 265mm will fit fine in the trunk.

Anything from an 05 up will be fine, If you get an 04 just make sure all the TSB's have been updated. As far as trim package...The sport/base is lighter than the GT...but all you need to ask yourself if what you want...Leather/heated seats...sun roof...navi...etc..

Track pads and new brake fluid are all you really need to do before the track, make sure you change the oil and get a nice alignment.

The RX-8 will be more fun on the track, depending on the track, it will more than likely turn in a slower time sheet though.

Don't forget to bring extra oil and use premix at the track.

Look for a car that has good coilovers like KW
