Post what type of gas do rx8 owner use

what type of gas gives you better gas milage to performance.

SHELL,CHEVRON,TECHRON and other not major brand name gas have better detergents than EXXON OR BP which are the two major distributors

I use shell V-Power cuz it's right by my house. Otherwise I'll use any of the name brand stations.

I use Shell because it is cheapest in my area, but I have no idea which gas would give better mileage or performance. I don't think they give major differences in either... at least they shouldn't.

I use Mobil because it is literally next door to me, and because I love the speed-pass thing. I also have yet to be convinced that the brand makes a big difference in performance or mileage, but I'm willing to be persuaded.

--edit-- Oh, also because it's 24 hours. I'm a night-owl.

The EPA mandates some cleaning elements in all fuel. Many actually use the same chemicles, but there is some variations in treatment rate.

I use Sunoco. I run their 87 in my 8 w/ no problems at all. It also helps that I get 4% back w/ my Sunoco Mastercard.

Most of the time it's Citgo, it's what the Navy Exchange uses in it's gas stations. When I'm off base it's Shell v-power.

I usually try to get Shell being the cheaper gas around and of better quality. The other probelm is I use credit card for all my payments so on ocasion I get Mobil and on very a rear ocasion I get Arco when it has a credit card spot, (the new ones do). I always get medium grade which is usually about 89 octane but at Arco I think it is less. While gas prices have begin to fall I have been thinking about getting preimum.

Shell, or Exxon. I use 91 all the time (best you can get here in California).

I used to use any name brand in the area, but last month, at 21000mi the car started missing at low rpm. I took the car to the service department where they replaced the plugs. They said the plugs were fouled due to what they thought was bad gas and told me that they recommend Chevron high grade only. So, its Chevron for me.

Shell...89 octane. Every once in a while I'll run a tank or two of premium (93 octane) in hopes of "cleaning" things out, but my gas mileage suffers...about 2 mpg less.

Actually from what I've heard is that if you keep using different brands at every fill up is bad. And in Daddy_G's case, the gunked up spark plugs was the end result. Since each major brand uses a slight different blend in their gasoline, and what would probably happen was that the different chemical properties between the different blends coagulated the spark plugs when introduced to high heat. Well at least that was what a honda mechanic told me years ago. So since then I would try to stick to the same brand.

I'm still wondering about Arco though. Years ago they were busted for watering down the gasoline. And supposedly they cleaned up now. So does that mean Arco gas is on par with other major brands?
