It's funny how EVERY thread has at least 1 person that gets mad. Anyway i am 18, and my dad also pays for gas and insurance, but i paid for the whole car. I'm sure all of you guys in cali know that gas isn't cheap, especially 91 octane! takin a road trip friday for spring break, gas cost will be mad.

Hey magixpuma -
Weren't you still riding around in a car seat like last year or something?
(Just because I'm double your age with a car seat in the back of my 8, doesn't mean I can't have some fun at your expense ...)

I can't wait till Magixpuma grows up, gets married, has a huge mortgage payment, then looses his sports car, has a couple of kids, pays a crapload of money for daycare, and all the while dreaming of having his sportscar back someday. Wake UP SH*THEAD!!! Everyone who has this car and a baby seat in it probably deserves it a hell of a lot more than YOU!

FREE ADVICE!
I think his remarks were more along the lines of an idle observation. In hindsight he even appologized after making the statement. Gotta respect the man for that.
I think when all of us were that age, we had dillusions of immortality. His perspectives will change after he's changed a few crappy diapers on children he has sired.
Until then, let the innocence be themselves and let's all....
ZOOM ZOOM! :D

First off, Congrats on your car!!
Secondly, What is with teenagers trying to represent themselves as being independent by stating they pay for thier cars themselves?? If you're 16 and you're living at home you do not pay for your car yourself. You are being subsidized by your parents. They make it possible for you to pay for the car, the gas, and the insurance by taking care of your needs.
Please don't take my remarks as being hostile. I just wanted to make a point. Also, I hope you are appreciative of your parents assistance in making your car ownership experience possible.
Frankly, I lived at home till I was 27. My mom paid my car insurance, and didn't charge me rent while I was in college for 7 years. Finally I dropped out and got a real job. I paid off her house and bought her a new car this year.

My 4 year Son LOVES the 8 and likes to go in it whenever we go out. He yells at me if I don't go fast enough and he loves the sound the new exhaust makes.
If I bought a 350Z look at all the great things my Son would miss out on. Would you really want that? :D

I'm older (53) and don't have kids. No baby seat for me. I just like the extra space that goes with this excellent sportscar. If it doubles as a family car for people with kids, more power to them.

Did you buy her a RX 8? Sounds like she deserves it!

Why use your son as an excuse?
After testdriving the 350Z and the 8, the choise was very clear.
Also: If I have to take my cats to the vet, I need the space of the RX 8.

Yes, did understand that. I may be from Holland, female, nearly 40, but i'm not that stupid. Tryed to do the same, but since English is not my native language it's a little hard to find te right words, not to offend people and still put a little spice in the discussion.
Sorry, for al the mistakes in writing.

I guess I'm old at 31... 30 when I bought, but the capacity for a child's seat was definitely a selling point when it came to gaining sway over my wife to be happy with our future purchase
.
There was no doubt in my mind that I was buying the car, the trouble was my wife still thought she had a veto vote, so I had to make her as interested as possible in the car. Once I had her worn down (after 3-6 months of dropping hints), we did a test drive, the back seat secured the deal and ensured continual marital bliss.
By the way we have no kids... yet.

RX-Great
This thread just shows how successful the RX-8 is as a product. This car appeals to everyone in the Sports Car market and at the same time managed to appeals to all of those who needed the particality of a Sedan as a first priority but can't afford a weekend Sports Car.
Kudos to Mazda to be brave enough to put together should a fine product with such broard market segment. I mean how many cars out there where you can have a teenager going "Hey, this is a Sports car !!! Don't put those baby stuff in the back !" and at the same time have an older Guy going " Shutup and get in the back, before I ground you for another week !"

I totaly agree, Smoker. Still I'm wondering how a 20year old (or even younger) can buy a car like an 8. Maybe I'm just naive but I had to work and save money very hard for this and it took me several years before i could do what i just did, buy a real sportscar!
For al the Magixpuma's in this world: just imagine that your passion is cars, you do'nt have rich parents, and when finaly thing start to work out (family, kids, money) some people say your to old for it.
Although I don't have kids myself, I can imagine this is the only car I should buy if I did.
