I'm 37. I have travelled across the ocean, slept in castles, eaten the finest food from the finest restaurants, and driven many fine cars. Many of my experiences are too decadent to share here.
I have in the course of my work delivered babies, brought back to life people who have flatlined, and held a beating heart in my hands.
NOTHING IN LIFE can compare to watching your own child being born, watching their first steps, or seeing the trust and unconditional love in their eyes when they call you "daddy." Of course mine aren't teenagers yet, but still....
The true meaning of life, I believe, is passing it on. I hope you get to experience it someday.
Life is all about compromises, by the way. If I didn't have a family, I would certainly be driving a Viper or a Ford GT (when available).
But I couldn't be happier.

But I'm glad to hear a man of your experience and caliber likes his 8. Reasonable men don't need 350hp vipers.

Sorry if that came off wrong. My point is, all that crap doesn't matter once you have kids. Simple pleasures are best.
Trouble is, once you have 'em, you gotta carry 'em around wit you.
The 8 is good for that.

let me add , None of that matters also after one experiences death. I have. May as well enjoy life and while I can. My 8 helps me do that. Simple pleasures make life real. They hold the secrets of our purpose.

You got that right... I can't imagine not coming home to my girls' 'Hi daddy' and their hugs. And since I started early, I am looking forward to having them both in college before I hit 50 so I can get that Ford GT, too
And magixpuma- you gotta admit, as car seats go, this one looks pretty cool in the back of my '8:

Damn that looks like an instrument of torture devised by a dominatrix :0. If i did have a car seat then i would definitely buy something like that. I bought the car cause i was basically out to get the best reasonably priced Functional 4 seater where even I could sit in the back (6'3). Rx8 came out to be top choice, and I got it for only 25k with my 97 Honda CRV (200k mi) tradein

this is such a stupid thread.... i'm 23, have a daughter and need a car seat. why the hell does it bother you that some rx-8 drivers need a car seat? The reason i purchased the 8' is because it's one of the only ways a "family man" such as myself can own a sports car (4 doors).

I don't think you ever FEEL old, inside your head at least. Sure you ache a little more and aren't as quick as you used to be, but inside your mind you are still the same, just more experienced (note I didn't say smarter).
Us old guys buy expensive sportscars because WE FINALLY CAN, not because we are trying to "relive our youth." If I could have bought this car at 19, I would have. If you bought it or were given it at a young age, bravo to you. Just remember to save some $ for the future too.
Why should you have to act like an old person? I am the same person I was, but now I get to have more toys. :D
Youth is wasted on the young.

What a thread. Maxi has probably had enough but here is one more. I love my 8 just like I did my '82 RX-7 and wouldn't change it for the world. I love my wife for being the one to talk me into the 8 instead of saving money an older 7 because she said the money didn't matter. Docs right about all the little things you enjoy with kids, like walkng into the garage and having my 17 month old daughter want ride in the 8 instead of the Tahoe. We are now adding "Zoom Zoom" to the little ones vocabulary.

Yeah but there's such a thing as spoiling your kids while spoiling yourself (evident by some of the cool baby seats pictures here). I don't have kids so I only spoil myself by owning an 8. Also, if this car was available when I was 20 and I had the money I would definately have bought it then. I love this car and I'm older then most of you here. This sportscar is fun for many ages and lifstyles.
