I can't rest my left arm on the door armrest and still hold onto the wheel with my left hand.

No climate control and as someone mentioned before, the spare tire kit takes too much space. I'll have to remove it in the winter if I want to put my snowboard from the trunk to the backseeat.

It could be easier to drive with more torque down low. I'm not bitching about speed, performance, or blah blah blah, but my hour-long commute can be a little herky jerky without proper technique (a real pleasure when someone new drives it...)
There are small things that could make the interior one step better, and lots of small things that could make this car really compete with those well outside its price range. For example: keying the fob twice to roll down glass, auto climate control, higher quality plastics on the door sills & gearshift ****, memory seats, rain sensing wipers, headlight washers, etc. These are small things, but when you add them up against a 3 series or a Lexus, you might just have more and more people going Mazda (especially with price on their side) versus more expensive and prestigious competition. And don't give me BS about how it's a sports car and needs nothing. If it were a true SC, it would have 2 fewer doors and seats.
I love my 8, but there are just little things like those that could make it a truly great car, and it might not have lost to the damn Prius in Car of the Year (that still irks me... lousy eco-econobox...)
