What year do you think Madza got it right, on the RX-8? Obviously the 04 RX-8 is probably the best deal price wise, it was the cars 1st year but like most cars during there 1st year they had some problems. Which of the RX-8s are the less problem proned, weighs the less has the strongest engine in it, or has the best trim package.
When did Mazda get it right so far? 05, 06 or 07, didn't it get heavier in 2007 is that a step in the right direction, if you are looking at the smoother ride, as a sales picht??

personally i like the shinka's the best...interior wise. all things considered my RX8's have been pretty problemless..there isn't much to split the models appart except for a few changes here and there (i think the rotary crests on the front and rear bumpers are included now arn't they?)

I say 07,,,,,,,considering 04-06 there was still a bunch of TSB for the RX-8......and where did you get the info that 2007 RX-8 weigh more??? Anyways i would expect an 07 not to have many issues that previous years had. Should be up to date with everything. Also i think for 07, touring pkgs get std 6 disc cd changers. I think 07s they might be including a few things extra that were previously options.

I think Mazda hit it right from day one, every car is going to have its refresh, upgrade in options ,colors, etc. But as a whole i think Mazda hit it on the head... funny i was thinking to myself , you don't see many Rx-8 on the road, but you sure see them at track events, road racing, autocross, etc.
Its like Mazda made this car not for the masses but for track enthusiast.

One thing to check out - Mazda's web site, when you build an RX-8, it says that the MT Sport version comes with 16" wheels.
If you look at the spec sheet, it says the MT comes with 18" wheels.
What gives?

by late 2003, mazda had fixed most of the issues the early cars had reported in production (we're talking about crap like too much grease on the defrost button). Then it's just a matter of a few TSBs and misc changes like clear washer fluid bottle and slightly different intake design.
saying a 2007 is better than 2005 is erroneous, they're essentially the same.

I have an 04 GT, MT and it has been problemless, It only has 17m but has been the perfect car so far. Have had all of the TSB's done and even have had great service from the dealer as they sem to have a pretty good rotary mech. We had a 94 FD before and they really couldn't work on it.

the 07 PP's do not come with 19" wheels, so I think you must have mistyped 18". The Shinka's do seem to have the different finish on the wheels, which looks really nice. My 07 is great so far, and I'm anticipating no problems with a 12/06 build date

06 and later models have the revisions that fixed some of the bigger issues as well as made some tweaks to the SRS and other systems.
I would not consider getting a earlier than '06 model. Even simple things like the oil neck breather and sheilds for the radiator/ac units didn't come until 06.
And don't forget the major changes that fixed many issues with the pre-06 auto tranny models.

All the cars weigh the same in 2007 as they did in 2004. The difference is that the mag's first tested the base models and now seem to be using the grand touring models with all the lux items.
A brand new 2007 is no better than a 2003 with all the recalls updates. . The haven't changed anything about the fundemental engine design, only the PCM software and sparkplugs.

in my expirience, i just traded an 05 for an 07, and i can feel the difference performance wise its smoother, faster, the ride is way less bumpy in my 07 than in the 05, maybe cause the suspention is better ( i traded a 05 touring for an 07 GT) i actually don't feel the road as much as in the 05.
