an american muscle enthusiast comes up to me at my uncle's shop about a week ago and asked what car I drove, I pointed to the rx8, he told me he drives the El camino SS (which my uncle is pulling apart) he asked me to hear my car, I turn it on for him, he says "uh oh, I think you have a problem with your motor"
I asked, really? what do you think it is?
he says "I haven't heard anything like this, but I'm sure there is probably some type of metal spinning around in your engine, if I were you, I'd take it to a shop and tell them to take it out for you"
me: "yea, sure, there is only one problem though"
him: "what?"
me: "my car won't drive without them"

I told him nicely that I gotta go, went in my car, gave him 2-3 courtesy rev, and shot off with my "spinning pieces of metal" powered car.........

I love telling people that the car has a 1.3L. They laugh until I tell them it has 238 HP. Then they ask how many cylinders, I say zero, then the whole confused questioning starts...

I was once asked if my car "had one of those rotating engines" LOL I just held back the laughter till I got into the car.

I took my mom to blockbuster to get some movies, and as we were walking out, some guy sped through the parking lot and cut off another car to get the spot next to mine, he then gets out and tells me that i have the nicest car he has ever seen. Suprisingly he knew what it was, but he didnt know anything about a rotary engine. We get in my car as he walks away, and my mom asks me if i get that a lot. "yea, that tends to happen when parking lots and stupid people mix.

Oh, and then on the way home from work, i just happen to look in my side mirror and i see a VW and then an intercooler in it. He pulls up next to me and revs his engine a little. I Burst out laughing as his turbo sounds like pure ***. Then we pull up to a stop light and i give a little antagonizing rev, and he proceeds to dump the clutch and the green light and literally blows his turbo. I drive past nice and slow and laugh.

I guess that first of all a quick intro is in order. . .

I have been an unregistered stalker of these forums for a long time. Have had my eye on an 8 since they were introduced, but for one reason or another, never worked out. At any rate I have an 8 on order currently but won't pick it up for nearly a year. (how's that for a waiting list?)

I am currently in Iraq, and as we often do, a couple of good friends of mine were having a cigar and discussing the "post-deployment purchases" mine being the 8 of course, and he is buying a new Mustang GT. Mind you this guy is a good friend of mine, we ride our motorcycles together quite often.

Me: When we get back to Germany and get the cars broken, we will have to go run the Nurburg Ring with them.
Mustang boy: Yeah, don't leave me behind on the autobahn.
Me: Yeah right.
Mustang boy: No really, I may not keep up on the straights, but seriously, when we hit the corners,. . .the mustang is just going to kill your 8 in the twisty parts of the Ring. It has a sport supsension.
Me: You are probably right.

I don't have the heart to try to explain that it will be quite the opposite, I think I will just take one lap with him in my car around the ring. . .should be explanation enough.

When I dropped my daughter off at a school dance a few months ago, one of the little dweeby boys standing there saw us drive up, and as I pulled to a stop, he yelled out "Mustang!"

My daughter got out, laughing, as were about half the kids standing there. The rest had no clue what was going on.
